Sort of shakes the world... Please remember you are not alone out there... and we're thinking about you, too.... - -Warren Date: Sun, 4 Jun 2006 17:32:16 -0700 (PDT) From: Melissa Jordan Subject: Alloy: 80s Hits Stripped I went to Best Buy today and got a copy of 80s Hits Stripped. I like these lower-key versions of the songs. TMDR's version of "Science" still retains a goodly measure of the electronic feel of the original, between the samples and the keyboard. It's a neat interpretation of the tune. It would have been interesting to hear it played on piano, for a totally stripped version. I think my favorite tune on the CD is Berlin's unplugged version of "The Metro." That's really cool. I picked up the best of INXS, too. I'm listening to it right now, pondering Michael Hutchence and his bizarre and fairly depressing departure from this world. My brother died on Friday, and I've been trying to make sense of things (and failing miserably, mostly.) One thing I will tell you - if you're trying to cheer yourself up with music, don't let iTunes try to play "I Love You Goodbye" three times in a row. (Damn that theoretically random "Party Shuffle" feature.) MJ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 10:10:46 EDT From: CJMark@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: 80s Hits Stripped Hey Melissa.. He was a sweetheart. When I was a little kid, he's the one who first introduced me to electronic music. I remember him playing Wendy Carlos LPs for me (so far back, Wendy was still Walter then!), explaining what a Moog was... he took me to see Star Wars on opening night... he was a good guy. It was just a month ago that I found out he was a Dolby fan, too. It completely blew my mind when he started talking about the albums, quoting songs. I had no idea at all. I'm gonna miss him so much. Thanks again, everyone. With gratitude, Melissa Tired of spam? Yahoo!
