Oh, words cannot express how cool this is!! I have loved the K Chronicles
for about 10 years and kept meaning to email Keef so this gave me the kick
in the butt to do so. He sent me a brief note the very next day and asked
if he could use my message as the letter of the week! I am so chuffed!

I'm relieved to find I'm not the only one unhappy with the name of the tour.
Sure, you remember it, but it still leaves me feeling a little like I need
to take a shower. And I'm glad Keith saved me the trouble of pointing out
the Golden Age cover similarities because it struck me immediately. Still,
I am very much looking forward to the Independent show (got my tickets a few
hours ago) and am crossing my fingers that we can snag some of that limited
seating. What I wouldn't give to have a normal back! I will miss hearing
some of the asides that I was privy to while standing in front though, such
as TMDR's comment about something smelling good and he wouldn't mind having
a little of that at the Mighty show.

I search eBay for eyeglass frames to replace my worn out Dolby specs (of
course the company that made them went out of business a few years ago) and
I've been coming up with some similar ones called Morgan which seems
appropriate. I once had a pair of sunglasses like that which were literally
called Dolby. I nearly cried when they broke.

Anybody catch Goldfrapp on Leno the other night? I downloaded that song
free from iTunes and liked it but was dismayed to realize they didn't even
perform it live on the show. And where's the props to Norman Greenbaum for
"Sprit in the Sky" since they stole that riff? I pity those people who go
see them in concert. Sure, she's a pretty little thing but c'mon! It
reminded me of seeing New Order when they actually left the stage and let
the synths finish the show. Speaking of iTunes, two cover versions of "The
Ability to Swing" are available there. I bought them both. One is the
Patti Austin take which I like very much and the other is a vocalese
interpretation by a group called Vox P which I feel is a little too slow and
sucks out some of the charm. Another cover (not available there, sadly)
which is definitely worth checking out is a raucous version of "Hyperactive"
by a band named C-Nuts. But let us not forget, since he's way too modest to
mention it, Thomas said his favorite cover is Crackers' working of
"NuVogue". Genius! And anybody looking for a kick-ass song to work out to,
I highly recommend Lee Jackson's blistering reworking of "Big Bang
Backwards". That gets a lot of play on my iPod, especially when my energy
is flagging. It's become a ritual for me now. And as I found out
yesterday, his cover of "Dissidents" is great to walk to. I salute you, Mr.
Jackson!

NPR has been a source of amusement for me lately since they seem to keep
referencing some of my favorite music. I've heard "history never repeats",
"the golden age of wire...tapping", and a piece on wind power. Hmm...

Lastly, I just wanted to thank everybody for their kind words in response to
my concert postings. It has been unseasonably cold in California and I
treasure the warmth!

Is it April 15th yet,
Mary
