I talked to Thomas during Italian man's set and he said that he's a perfectionist and was not yet satisfied with the rest of the live set, but he'll be ready for April. Apparently his friend was supposed to be headlining but Mighty incorrectly gave him top billing. LOVED hearing Airhead--that was fantastic!! And I definitely had a bone to pick with the whippersnapper DJ, as I have been laying claim to "youngest serious adult fan" for a while... (I was in seventh grade.....mmm, good times). At first I recoiled because of the big-smile-wide-grin ultra-white-toothpaste-teeth questions, probably put in later... But I enjoyed it very much and found it very informative indeed, if only for his place of birth! It got me to make my first contribution to Wikipedia (that had his plcae of birth in Cairo; where I got hopelessy stuck in explaining the Cairo-myth in the first sentence... within half-a-day someone else moved that to a much better place under 'Trivia'... This wiki-thing is sooo cool. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Dolby)! Great to hear him talk about his background. And he seems quite determined to do some *new* music. :-)) Let's see where Depeche Mode brings him in Europe. See below too. The Werchter Festival on July 2nd would be quite close to me. Yeah, Peter, the colors are indeed cold and sort of post-apocalyptic...what an interesting subject to discuss here! It's fascinating the way the use of different colors invokes different psychological, and even physiological, reactions. Makes me wonder just what Mr. TMDR has in mind in terms of an image these days, you know, in terms of how he wants to be perceived. Seems to me that the drab colors go right along with the name of the tour--"Sick Individual", indeed! Not someone you'd want to meet in a dark alley, I type, as I shudder slightly. Yet the irony is that Thomas is so very warm and personable in concert, isn't he? So someone who wasn't particularly familiar with TMDR's work might go to a show out of curiosity, perhaps expecting some kind of cold, android-type of guy, but Thomas is warm and personable, so I've heard! Curious dichotomy, is it not?
