I just wanted to pipe in to Robin that Kate Bush's newest album is my absolute fave in a long time (from anyone)!!! I was a little worried when I went to buy it, that it might be somewhat of a self indulgent piece of tripe from someone who has been out of the loop for so long. MAN how wrong was I? Every track is a piece of art in my opinion. I like the first disc as much as the second though my major complaint is the duration... I wish it was alot longer! I hope all of you are having a great new year... much love to y'all Ian Ian Gifford http://ca.geocities.com/iangiffordmusic http://www.myspace.com/iangiffordmusic ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Jan 2006 22:41:15 -0800 From: "David Abbitt" Subject: RE: Alloy: hi Dabbitt + 1 fiance for 1/27 Sunset dinner & show - add me to reservation pls. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-alloy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-alloy@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Monya De Sent: Monday, January 09, 2006 11:45 AM To: alloy@smoe.org Subject: Alloy: hi So I've been blindly posting from another email address and the msgs have not been getting to the digest! Here is what I wrote on 11/23/2005: - -- I have made a dinner reservation at House of Blues Sunset Strip/West Hollywood for 5 p.m. on 1/27/06. I picked 8 for a number, but I'm sure we can change that when the time comes. For how many? "When the time comes" is finally here. :) Good question, Keith.. I'm wondering the same. I don't want to waste a minute of the weekend if I can help it: pal around the head shops, duck into a museum, take in the freak show that is Hollywood (though that'll probably be in full swing AFTER the concert), make our way to the ocean & *look* at it, something! BTW does HoB sell ridiculously overpriced t-shirts? I need to ask. I'm sure there are Alloyeds who can't make the shows who would like one, if so. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jan 2006 15:21:10 -0500 From: "Thurlow, Robin" Subject: RE: Alloy: Back in the fold for a brief moment Wish I could be there, guys! You're going to have such a great time. No Dolby in NYC then..? *sigh...* xxxx ~robin ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jan 2006 13:23:07 -0800 (PST) From: Melissa Jordan Subject: Re: Alloy: Back in the fold for a brief moment I have a reservation for three people at 5:30 on Friday at HOB/WeHO. As a matter of fact, I had to call out there just now to make sure that I'd added my one traveling companion, as it was originally going to just be two of us coming out. I talked to a man named Eric, and he said there's lots of room in the restaurant that evening, at this point. So, if people need reservations, they should call or do an online reservation now. House of Blues does sell overpriced t-shirts, but I doubt they'll have any Dolby-specific gear. Someone with some mad graphic designin' skillz could always whip up a Cafe Press store and sell "Alloy Pilgrimage '06" t-shirts. You could know each other by the words "Fruit juice everywhere!" on the backs. Yeah, I remember about a gazillion years ago, I suggested that on an Alloy t-shirt. That was in the before time. Before Cafe Press, that is. There's a ton of stuff to do in Hollywood, depending on your interests. We're considering going to one of the Hollywood cemeteries (there's a joke Penn & Teller introduced on their show "Bullshit!" that two of us can't wait to pull on the third traveler, and you have to visit Forest Lawn for the punchline.) You can check out the Walk of Fame, Graumann's Chinese, take a tour at Paramount Studios (you have to make reservations in advance), drive up to Griffith Park and see the view of L.A., check out the stink at the La Brea Tar Pits (and visit the LA County Museum of Art, just a block away - or the Petersen Automotive Museum a mile or so down from that.) Have a hot dog at Pink's, or just people watch at some of the cool cafes in the area. Or, if you want to go a little farther afield - the ocean. Man, I miss the ocean. :-) Elaine wrote: (I don't say..) Here is what I wrote on 11/23/2005: - -- I have made a dinner reservation at House of Blues Sunset Strip/West Hollywood for 5 p.m. on 1/27/06.
