I'll only be seeing the Friday and Saturday night shows. Was everyone aware of the San Diego date change? Also, the forum at The Flat Earth has any number of posts alluding to two not-so-thrilling possibilities--one that Thomas may back out of the shows altogether (apparently the HOB box office said that only Dramarama and The English Beat were absolutely confirmed) and that Thomas may only be playing a couple of songs on his own-- otherwise appearing with the English Beat for a few tunes. Anybody heard anything along these lines? I won't be utterly devastated if he doesn't play for more than an hour (that's to be expected) but family vacation aside, I'm spending some significant money to make this pilgrimage! Thanks everybody! It would be cool if he could join us for the pre-show dinner. Hey Robin - got any pull with the man - we're a nice group - we will try to avoid being "fan boys and girls" and won't just sit there staring at him. We'll probably just talk amongst ourselves since we all have been chatting on and off for 10 years. Oh well - if it all falls though - who's up for Disneyland and Universal Studios on Friday and Saturday? - -Keith in Denver - ----- Original Message ----- From: "John McJunkin" To: Sent: Friday, December 16, 2005 8:16 AM Subject: Re: Alloy: Anaheim vs. West Hollywood > > Hey Gang, > > After discovering that the San Diego date was moved up a night to > Wednesday, I changed my plans a bit. I'm sure you all remember Melissa. She took the plunge and wrote Thomas, and he sent word back. She says, "you can tell Alloy that Thomas is DEFINITELY doing all three nights. He just confirmed this for me, so send that info on to the troops. (That way, the San Diego people can breath a sigh of relief.)" He'll be performing the same set each night. This is, however, before any word about the San Diego concert date change. I don't know why that changed, but I'll take a look at Wakeling's message board and see what I can glean. Unfortunately, Thomas sends his regrets about a meet-and-greet. He's concerned about lots of talking taking a toll on his voice while trying to get back into the swing of performing (after a 14-year hiatus). So, that won't happen, but if we bump into him at the venues, we can say hello and congratulate him. Re: meet-and-greet, don't they pretty much just suck anyway? A handful of star-struck people who don't know what to say nervously canoodling with a poor recording artist, who wouldn't know how to respond anyway. I have always felt uncomfortable at "grip-and-grin" events, which tend to be embarrassing for the fans, and perfunctory for the artists. I'll be more than happy to simply see the man perform live. I've been waiting a very, very long time. Keith--we're planning on Disneyland all day on Saturday (I'll have my wife, four-year-old, and my wife's parents along for the ride--it's the first McJunkin family mini-vacation of 2006!) I will likely spend Friday afternoon at Mutato Muzika, and then head straight to HOB from there (a short jaunt.) I'm guessing we'll be able to assemble a crew of Alloyites on Friday evening for a visit to the Mouse on Saturday.
