I'm wearing my schoolboy uniform. On the blazer is a crest which reads "NON SIBI SED TENTACULI" and has a picture of Peep gleefully wrapping his tentacles around a chibi in a sailor schoolgirl uniform. Given the fact that you're right next door to Hamilton which means not only is it a short trip but we'll all also be able to sleep in our own comfy beds at home with our families at the end of the day I might just take you up on that offer. I'd have to check with the bandmates first but it would definetly be a good way for us to see just how receptive anime conventions would be to our band. There'll certainly be a concentration of people who are already fans at the convention too (having been introduced to the band through my webcomic). Hey, I could even do free autographed sketches of characters from my comic for fans after the show. Yeah, sounds like it could work. Let me e-mail the bandmates. I probably won't be able to get back to you though until April when I'm back from India. But if you want us to play you can e-mail Monica (she's the band's Rubin Kincaid as well as our bassist) and set it up with her. mcknott.i@sympatico.ca is her e-mail address. It would make a good meeting place for the Toronto area Alloy contingent to meet and greet. I keep pestering Thomas that he has to do a soundtrack for an anime series or OAV just to increase the odds that he and I will be invited as guests to the same convention. Let's face it too, Thomas would kick ass if given the opportunity to score an anime soundtrack. I like your idea of getting Dolby fans to meet there (at or near). Any fans in the southern Ontario (or to stretch it more, The Great Lakes area) interested in coming to an anime convention? I probably could get you all in for free for one day. I'm aware of your Web comic, but I could use some more background info to sway some minds. I'm 'just' the Japanese Guest Liaison, so it's not up to me to directly invite/negotiate your prescence at the con. I'll definitely discuss it with the Guest Liaison, with whom I have major clout. Right now, I'm working on getting another musical act, Bonnie Pink who wants to play at AN. You might be the opening act. Could you send me a disc, preferably of any anime related material you've performed? Or direct me to place to download? >convention too (having been introduced to the band through my webcomic). >Hey, I could even do free autographed sketches of characters from my comic >for fans after the show. I tried to access your webcomic website while at work but it's blocked due to adult content. This is the CBC's internet filter program at work! Mentioning the webcomic might actually cause more problems. ^_^; I'm very unpopular with some anime convention staff for the simple reason that my webcomic is a hentai parody. I've received probably close to 100 e-mails to date that read more or less like this. "Hi, my name is and I work with . I really wanted to book you (and sometimes they'll also mention Clay of the webcomic "Sexy Losers") as a guest at the convention this year but when I merely suggested it these two girls on the committee flew into a rage and yelled at me for ten minutes for daring to suggest we cheapen our convention by inviting a hentai manga artist. The whole meeting then turned into a big argument and in the end those who are anti-hentai threatened to quit if you were invited so my suggestion was turned down." Granted, these e-mails have all come from American anime/comics conventions. European and possibly even Canadian anime/comics conventions would probably not be so polarized on sexual issues. To date only one American convention has had the balls to actually invite me as a guest of honour and that was I-Con in Long Island. That was a sweet deal and they treated me like a freaking king, or a god, or a king of the gods! It was also my very first time experiencing the amazingly wild ego stroking rush of having people line up so I will autograph something for them. You have no idea how absolutely huge that makes your penis feel. It is depressing though when I stop to think that they'll gladdly sell table space to dealers selling live-action Japanese tentacle rape porn (yes, it exists, imagine big Godzilla-like rubber suit monsters having sex with girls in magical sailor uniforms) and artist alley spots to teenage girls who spend the entire convention drawing pictures of dewey eyed catboys sodomizing each other like their lives depended upon it. Invite a popular webcomic artist with a big fanbase who draws hentai parodies? No way, that would sully the name of the convention. Jeeze Louise!!! It's an anime/comic convention. It's already about as sullied as it can get. Anyways enough preaching. The comic is called Ghastly's Ghastly Comic. It's almost four years old, it's an english language yonkonmanga and it publishes to the web once a week, and has a current readership of over 100,000 regular readers. The comic centers around a fictitional Hamilton pub called "The Spanked Monkey" where an assortment of anime cliches congregate and are lampooned in a hentai fashion. Although for an adult humour webcomic it has surprisingly little nudity in it when taken as a whole but when the gag calls for explicit graphics no punches are pulled. > I'm 'just' the Japanese Guest Liaison, so it's not up > to me to directly invite/negotiate your prescence at the con. If you contact Monica she should be able to get a CD off to you. I'm in India for a month (leaving in a few hours in fact). There is an MP3 of the Month section on the webcomic where I feature our music, a new song each month. Currently it's offline. I'll be fixing it up when I get back from India. None of the anime stuff has been recorded yet, but some of the J-Punk have (Shonen Knife cover, Plastics cover).
