I would like the ability to edit songs when I'm making a mix cd at home. By this I mean, I might want to lift out a 30-second bit from a 7-minute song.. and possibly splice bits together etc. No heavy remixing or anything like that, just simple stuff so that I can play with music from my cds. I notice there are a lot of different brands.. would anyone here have advice on what product is best for doing simple things like this? I'm thinking of spending under $40. Thanks as always, xx ~robin PS I'm sorry to be so far behind on my list-owner stuff, but I have been having some major systems problems (as in, it stopped existing for about three weeks). I need to catch up, starting now! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 04 Oct 2004 11:19:35 -0700 From: William Steffey Subject: Re: Alloy: Music Editing Software Hi Robin, I swear by Sonic Foundry's (now Sony's) "Sound Forge" but that's $399. There's also Cool Edit (which is now Adobe's "Audition") that goes for $299 new. There are some cheaper editors online (see: http://www.snapfiles.com/features/soundedit-803-404304.php ) But I can't testify as to their quality. Good luck! Please let us know how your quest goes. - -Bill Robin wrote: >i have a question about basic music editing software. I would like the >ability to edit songs when I'm making a mix cd at home. I just noticed on http://www.musictap.net that Rhino will issue a 4 DVD set of Live Aid on November 16th - whoo hoo! - -Keith ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Oct 2004 15:45:47 -0400 From: "Robin" Subject: RE: Alloy: Music Editing Software Thanks Bill! those are *slightly* out of my price range.. and they are capable of doing way more than I need. They would be wasted on me, I'm afraid. But it's great to hear there are such cool programmes out. All of the things offered by Beatnik have too much muchness for me too (I checked :) xx ~r ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Oct 2004 08:32:14 +1000 From: Paul Baily Subject: Re: Alloy: Music Editing Software Hello! But it's great to hear there are such cool programmes out. If all you're after is just cutting bits out of tracks and/or joining bits together you can actually do this pretty easily with iTunes (available for Mac & Windows) . Paul.
