So how was his show in person? We used to have all kinds of '80's acts come through the Tidewater region of Virginia but they've sadly disappeared although I have recently been to stripped down shows by Squeeze and Blondie. Love that HoJo! I used to live in Salt Lake City where he has a large following, so he was there often. Apparently he has a pretty big Colorado following also because two of his five shows on this mini us tour were here. One in Englewood at the Gothic theater about a mile from my house, and another show in Colorado Springs. This was the first time I saw him where he totally returned to his sequencer electronic roots with a sound almost exactly like the original albums. It was sort of like his "one man show" performance accompanied by a female backup singer (perhaps not much older than his first album) a guy playing electric guitar and another guy handling much of the sequencers. Howard was surrounded by keyboards front and back, one with a small Sony Viao laptop mounted in the rack. He was playing more of the prominent keyboard parts and piano solos. Occasionally he would step away from the keyboards to sing up front while the band played. He used a wireless head-mounted mike. The stage show had more of a high-tech look than what I've seen in the past. The stage was very un-cluttered. Howard wore a totally white outfit (and oddly enough, switched to totally black after the show) and all of the equipment racks and mike stands were highlighted by white neon lights (or perhaps florescent lights that looked neon like). I'll post some pics for you guys. After the show he came out to sign autographs and take pictures. Nice guy but you can tell he is kind of quiet and reserved off the stage. Unfortunately they were rushing everyone though pretty much so we didn't get to talk long. Apparently he is about to go into the studio to start a new album. Now if Thomas is also recording a new album (we hope). Wouldn't that make a great double bill. - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael & Denise" To: Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 12:35 PM Subject: Alloy: Howard Jones > > Man, I would love to meet Howard Jones! The last two pictures are a bit dark. The couple with Howard is Dennis and Theresa and the bald guy is myself. For those who were wondering how tall Howard Jones is - I'm 5' 8" , looks like he is also. The above IP address may change, I do not have a fixed IP address, so if you don't get anything - let me know and I'll find out what my new IP address is. - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith Stansell" To: Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 3:18 PM Subject: Re: Alloy: Howard Jones > > I've seen him perform several times before - from a simple piano with > percussionist performance to a more rock band sound with organ.
