["Robin Thurlow" Subject: RE: Alloy: D-50 is Sold (and how!) Heat application runs the risk of making the pen markings or plastic more brittle & flaky. It would all depend on the nature of the materials involved, but in conservation generally, extremes of temperature are always avoided. I wonder what is in an acetone-free nail polish remover? I've never heard of it, but it would be nice to have, sinc acetone is so very unhealthy to use. Many people in violin making from the old days are now being diagnosed with leukemia, and long-term acetone use is being blamed. The good thing about acetone is that it is a great cleaner of sticky residue.. xx ~r ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2003 17:53:56 -0500 From: "Robin Thurlow" Subject: RE: Alloy: D-50 is Sold (and how!) I really like this idea.. if he put down a strip of duct tape & then signed on top of it really hard, it might work. I have to say, I think of Thomas as being even more manly now that I know of his extensive duct tape usage.. ~swoon~ xx ~r ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V8 #212 ***************************
