UPDATE:

<groan>

yes, that last (?) synth sold for $910.

yes, it hurt. More, it turns out than the previous, more excellent items for
sale. If only I'd known! (And read my CDC - Cracker's Dolby Concerns).

After years of Ebay for magazines and the occasional Japanes import, the
miraculous occurred!
                                           Actual Dolby Circuit Devices
                                                            (ACDC)

And, yes, thanks to you, Crackers, I will not be embarrassing myself further
by not bidding on the PG1000. Many thanks to you for the tip. I was excited by
your earlier note of the D-50 going at the rate of approx. $350 per.

Ah well. Perhaps my best assuage ( i know, my dictionary says it is not a
noun) is that Thomas makes out better for this deal. My wife was generous with
her support as she told me that she knew it would never be sold again.

Excuse this silly fan but know that this Dolby Item has been secured in the
ranks of the members of Alloy and will be well loved...though not as much as
the AZ-1.

And, Crackers, I saw that you were bidding on the AZ-1 and would never have
considered intruding on truth. Besides. For some reason ( ignorance?) I was not
as interested in that type! Go figure...

I feel silly. But I'm still excited! And I still listen to His albums. So,
it's not like we listen to his albums out of duty to our past. Is it?

Did anyone else bid on anything in these past auctions? Whatever happened to
those monster cases?

Hey! Congratulations! I'm glad the D-50 went to another Alloyite! Don't
sweat the price, you've gotten yourself a prime collectable there. There was
obviously one other memorabila collector at least who was willing to pay but
a little bit less than you. It will make a really cool synth with the
PG1000. It'll be as like programming an old analogue synth.

Yes, I too have to give thanks for a very, very supportive wife.

My wife draws the line at me bringing the AZ-1 to bed with us. ;_;

But on the plus side I somehow feel a little bit safer knowing my wife has
an aversion to strap-ons in the bedroom.

Thanks! I'm very appreciative of the support from my fellow alloyites too
for not bidding against me.

I think of it more as a hope for the future. I know Thomas must have a few
more albums left in him at least.

Yeah, whatever did happen to those monster flight cases? And pictures of
naked women inside them? Or pictures of Europa in her old catholic
schoolgirl uniform? ^_^

Crackers,

While looking at the SNL footage, I also took a look at the clip from VH1's
One Hit Wonder show with a clip about Thomas. I didn't see any clips in
there of Thomas with the AZ-1 but in a clip from Howard the Duck it looked
as if one of the members of the female band was using a strap-on (er) synth.
The clips were brief and there were no clear shots of this band member, but
is it possible? Do you think? Perhaps your AZ-1 appears in Howard the
Duck?

Thomas - does Crackers own a prop used in that piece of cinema history?

Heck, I love his music so much I'm tempted to start snapping up cell
phones.

Subject: Alloy: Dolby Lists and Crackers Prize

Hi gang,
I wanted to chip in my Dolby XMas list as well as congratulate Crackers on
obtaining a holy grail to TMDR fans everywhere! I would have loved to have
owned that myself but I knew it would be out of my range and I try to make a
point not to bid against fellow fans since we just end up hurting each other
financially! I thought that was the keyboard that Thomas used on the Joan
Rivers show back around 1987 but alas Crackers, he was using a black Yamaha
unit so my hopes of providing you with some great footage of Thomas playing
your Casio were dashed. Anyone that might have missed my offer from last year
would not recall that I have the '85 Grammy Jam on VHS (viewable but in b/w
thanks to my funky VCR from those days) as well as an 1984 MTV London Calling
interview plus the Joan Rivers appearance available to anyone that would like
a copy. Feel free to contact me off of Alloy if you're interested. I also
have duplicates of most of TMDR's albums on vinyl so if anyone is trying to
fill a want list just let me know what you need and I'd be glad to try and
help out. My personal want list would include:
a)The Aliens Ate My Buick promo car
b)Close But No Cigar promo box
c)A new album by the man himself!
Ah well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad;)!
Congrats again Crackers and Happy Holidays to all of Alloy!
Mike
