The mics I guess are handy if you need a set of wireless mics. I'm not sure what capsule is in the shure mics but they'[re generally a pretty good mic. Needs some work on the one mic so you'll want to be handy with a soldering iron. As for the D-50, it's an okay synth. One of those classics of the 80s like the Korg M1 or the Yamaha DX-7. Not the coolest bit of Thomas gear to go up on the block but an okay synth. I see once again Auction Drop omitted Thomas Dolby from the auction title. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2579192537&category=38090 It'll make a good stand alone keyboard for anyone without any midi gear at all. Very 80s sounding though. Current street price of the D50 according to prepal.com is $376 USD on an upward trend with 382 sales tracked. It's currently sitting at $102. I imagine this one will probably end up going for close to or more than the PrePal listed value, that seems to be the trend for most of the Dolby gear going up on the block. The Dolby unit comes with a flight case which is a nice plus. I think, if memory serves me, the D-50 was used on the "Aliens Ate My Buick" album. So is the D50 and the wireless mics the last of the Dolby gear on the block? All the auctions now seem kind of anti-climatic after that PPG 2.2 and AZ-1 went on the block. Incidently, if you plan to buy the D50, I highly recommend you buy this piece of gear too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2578709924&category=38071 It's a programmer that makes programming the D50 as easy and intuitive as programming an analogue synthesizer. A "must have" in my books. So did anyone here manage to snag at least a flight case? At the risk of not being Crackers (wasn't that an Oscar Wilde play?) I'd pass on the Roland D-50. Very mediocre stuff in the patch department.
