There are a lot of Dolby Flight cases offered for auction. They're probably not going to sell for all that much compaired to the synths, but they look like top notch flight cases. Saddly they won't ship them. So only people who live in the San Fransisco Bay area will be able to buy them because you'll have to go to the Auction Drop centre to pick them up yourselves. Or perhaps there is an alloyite in the SF area who will pick them up for you and offer to ship them for you. Great looking flight cases for musicians needing to cart lots of bulky gear around. There's also a 13 year old Mac Computer Thomas used to use. Unlike synthesizers computers don't fair too well at holding their value. Still, it was a powerful machine back in 1990 and I'm sure it's still got a lot of spunk left in it yet. Hell, I still use a 16 year old Atari ST for all my MIDI sequencing. It comes in a flight case too. I don't imagine this one is going to sell that high. It could be used as a MIDI samper too. Once again, only an SF area pick up. These flight cases are very large. They're also very ugly. Just large, scuffed-up black boxes with metal trim. However, There's no reason they can't be spruced up a little bit once you've got them and painted to match your decore. They'd make great boxes to keep your Dolby collection and other odds and ends in. Just be sure to mask off the Thomas Dolby autograph before you paint. You might want to replace the foam on the insides too. Some of it looks a little... scungie. For the ladies, you might even be able to fit yourself into some of them. You can crawl in naked, pretend it's 1983 and you're a naughty (and naked, don't forget naked) school girl groupie who has snuck into one of the flight boxes so that you'll be shipped backstage where you can surprise Thomas and confess your undieing and naked admiration. Just remeber to drill plenty of air holes at least 1" or more in diametre. Hours of fun for you and your significant other (who can play the role of Thomas, or Brenda O'Leary... who am I to judge?). You could even maybe take pictures... you know... to share with friends... on the internet... friends who draw comic strips... perhaps... with tentacled beasties in them... I'm just saying. They are padded on the inside and have wheels. Buy them all, take them to the top of a hill with your friends, hop in and have a race. Do be sure to wear proper saftey gear that is approved to standard by the Official Flight Case Racing Association Of California. Or maybe you can just use them to store old junk in and show your friends "hey look, this used to belong to Thomas Dolby." There might be more Dolby stuff yet to come. It appears in one of the photos that Thomas is signing a utility microphone. That'll probably go quite inexpensively so there's still hope for some more Dolby Gear to find it's way into the hands (and dare I say, possibly the bedrooms, eh? eh?) of some well deserving Alloyites. Good luck gang! I just discovered that appearently Auction Drop is not listing all the items as "Thomas Dolby". Some are just listed as "T Dolby", such as this Yamaha MEP4, Midi Event Processor. I have no idea what the heck this thing does. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2577519707&category=23790 Perhaps Thomas could enlighten us. Going through the completed auctions there were some other items listed only as T Dolby. TOA 4 channel mixer with a JL Cooper Midi Link. Not terribly glamourous, but useful none the less. And there was an E-MU Morpheous synthesizer module. So those looking for gear be sure to search "T Dolby" as well as "Thomas Dolby". Not that this would have mattered to me. I got what I wanted and now I'm out of the game, but I'd hate to think that an alloyite seeking a Dolby item missed out on a chance for some gear.
