Weyhey im off to see Half Man Half Biscuit again in Manchester tomorrow night
- - saw them 2 years ago & loved it - very few outside the UK will know them but
were formed in approx 1986 & lyrics are very comical - how many groups
come up with tracks like :-
'Black tour jacket with detachable sleeves'
'Deephouse victims minibus appeal'
or 'All i want for xmas is a Dukla Prague away kit'
excellent stuff - & the followers are mainly 30 somethings , balding & with
beer bellies (& thats just the women). so I will fit in fine .
Pity its not Thomas im due to see , never managed that , did try to see him in
London (think it was the year of Aliens release ) - but employers wouldnt let
me have the time off -- Boo we all cry.
I was thinking the other day - if Thomas is working on new material ?? id love
it if he got together with his old chums like Kevin Armstrong, Matthew
Seligman, Bruce Woolley & Lene Lovich for old times sake - & if they did any
gigs it would be great as I love them all - so 5 heroes all in one go - oh to
dream.
Finally , went to watch a football match last weekend - Fleetwood Town FC
versus Ramsbottom United - (think i remember someone commenting on alloy re
ramsbottom in the past ) - well the afternoon was made more interesting via
the visit of a friends relative from Milwauke (sorry dont know how its
spelt)in the US - who was determined to call it Soccer - (not a popular thing
to do in the UK), he new nothing of the game , so we had a great afternoon
trying to explain the rules - - but he seemed to enjoy himself, we even
introduced him to the delights of pints of beer , & pies with gravy - .
I did let him know that he wasnt to worry about not understanding the rules -
when they tried to start an American Football league over here - I went to see
a couple of games by the Fylde Falcons -- well myself & approx 500 other
people just watched in amazement wondering what on earth was going on - for a
start both teams seemed to consist of approx 50 players which kept
alternating.Sorry but im sticking to soccer - oops Football.
Ps my favourite song of this month - Only Babies Can Fly by Bruce Woolley
(featuring Thomas).
Paul (Blackpool).
