My credit cards are already warmed up with anticipation of the bidding on that item. Hey!!!! Inflatable Brenda O'Leary dolls! I think we've found a new cottage industry. > 1. Neither the PPG Wave nor the Korg M1-R have any memories. I'm sure they're crushed to hear that. "Thomas, how can you be so cruel," sobbed the Korg M1-R, a solitary tear trickling down it's sleek black face-plate. "How could you forget that night we walked along the beach with a bottle of chianti and two crystal glasses, as clear and pure as our hearts. How we sat on a log of driftwood and gazed up at the stars spining in their heavenly ballet sipping wine and talking about the future. Then you looked deep into my LCD Display and softly whispered, 'you're the only synth for me, baby'. And as you leaned over to claim my microchip heart with a sweet tender kiss it began to rain. You put your jacket over my head as we raced, giddy with emotion and wine towards your automobile, forgetting the bottle of chianti, forgetting the crystal glasses, forgetting everything but each other and our most primal needs. How can you say we have no memories? "Even later when your brought the PPG Wave into our life, I didn't complain. I didn't get upset. I understood that a man like you could not be satisfied by one synth alone. If being with you meant sharing you with another synthesizer then I was happy to do so. It was beautiful, wasn't it Thomas? Wasn't it? We had something, you, me, the PPG Wave. How can you say there are no memories? "You bastard, Thomas Dolby! You cruel, heartless bastard! Go ahead, disguard us. Say there was nothing there but you know in your heart it's a lie. And another thing... all those songs we recorded together... I was faking it every time! That's right! You heard me. Fake! Fake! Fake! "Wait! Wait! I didn't mean it baby! Please! It was the anger speaking. Let's go back to the studio. Let's go now. You, me, the PPG Wave. It... it can be like old times. We'll break out the MIDI cables, I know you love that stuff baby. Please! Please! Is it me? I can change! Via MIDI SYSEX data dump! I can change!" Man... Thomas.... dude! You're cold, man, cold. Hi All, Don't know if this has ever been mentioned before, but I was just channel surfing and found found myself watching Dave Stewart & Barbera Gaskins' video for their 1981 UK No'1 "It's My Party..." Low and behold, just at the end of the vid, in walks a certain Mr. Dolby as "Johnny" - I knew that they'd covered Leipzig as the B-side but never realised that they'd gotten Thomas to be in the promo. Wonders will never cease... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Nov 2003 13:25:26 EST From: CJMark@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: gear Thanks for the laugh.. Crackers! I needed it today! Oh what I wouldn't give for a complete compilation of all of Thomas' appearances in videos (his own as well as those of others) Here in the US we were deprived of many of them. xx ~robin Protect your identity with Yahoo! I saw it play twice tonight on FoodTV, during the early showings of Good Eats and Oliver's Twist, so they may be stepping up how often it's shown. When it came on the first time, I squealed so loudly I startled Kevin and Brigid and then made them hush up so I could hear it. ;) The only problem is that now I've got the tune stuck in my head, and I don't think I have a copy of it on CD currently. If it persists, I'll have to pull out the vinyl tomorrow. :) Robyn M @ Robyn Moore @ http://www.wiccans.net/robyn.html @ You knew the job was dangerous when you took it. - S.C. ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V8 #185 ***************************
