Subject: Alloy: Thomas Compilation
I have recently been taping a load of my more obscure Thomas items for a Bruce
Woolley fan in exchange for hopefully some rare Woolley inc. demos.
Whilst doing the tape it backed up my feeling that the Thomas retrospective
from a few years ago could have been much better - maybe one day we will get
some sort of compilation like other artists do inc. rare tracks, bsides ,
demos etc .
Hearing tracks like Pedestrian Walkway, Therapy/Growth, Wreck of the Fairchild
& Urban Tribal again - just reminded me how good some of Thomas' non LP tracks
have been (yes I know Fairchild was on GAOW) but is still a rare cut, and many
fans never get to hear these tracks.Even include tracks when he has worked
with other artists if this is allowed eg Local Heroes & Girls at Our Best -
some great keyboards on them.
Whilst we are waiting for new material maybe Thomas could consider such a
compilation if he has the rights to the tracks & maybe he has a copy of those
tracks he did in session for the BBC back in the very early 80's - they were
great - but will they never be heard again ???that would be sad. Im sure he
could use the Salz label again or the label which released Forty (slipped my
mind for a minute).
Anyway Im going to listen to the tape again now for the 5th time today.
Paul.

Subject: Alloy: TMDR writes an intro for Depeche book
Hey all, it appears that recently (Oct 1st my birthday) a book came out
called "Stripped: The true story of Depeche Mode". The interesting link
to Thomas, is that he wrote the introduction in the book. I have yet to
receive the book or go to the local book store to see it, but I just
thought I'd let everyone know.
