They've already done one 80's series, and a 70's series too. This one is called "I Love the 80's -- Strikes Back." Each hour is devoted to one 1980's year. Anyhoo they have cute little segments like "hip-hop tune of year x.." where they name "Rapture" or "Rapper's Delight" or something, and I watched 1983 last night. Geddy Watanabe (Long Duk Dong from "Sixteen Candles") hosted a list of the biggest geeks of 1983. Guess who was #1.. the Blinded With Science Geek. sigh. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2003 14:41:29 -0600 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: Quick TD mention I watched that, I didn't think it was that big of a dig. I forgot who the other geeks were in that segment. I may still have it on the TiVo, I'll look it up tonight. I thought that was the 1982 show. I noticed they used She Blinded Me with Science as the background music while discussing the movie "The Day After" in the 83(?) show. Perhaps it was 84. Did you see Boy George? What was that? Looked like a multi-color basket ball with eyes painted on it something. (Oh wait - what am I thinking - it's Boy George - It's his duty to make us go what the ?) - -Keith - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elaine" To: Sent: Wednesday, October 22, 2003 2:34 PM Subject: Alloy: Quick TD mention > > The VH-1 network (a division of CBS, Viacomm, etc.) is running a > make-fun-of-the-80's show, which at times is mildly amusing imo, but has > been beaten to death at this point. Just not particularly flattering. Boy had painted himself up to look like a demented Ralph Wiggum. I also caught his appearance last night on Jay Leno, and while he had an almost-normal (for him) makeup job, he was sporting the same dark color-painted neck as on VH-1. I surmise that he's put on weight and think it's hiding his double chin. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2003 16:13:48 -0600 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: Quick TD mention - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elaine" > Boy had painted himself up to look like a demented Ralph > Wiggum. (multicolored basketball with eyes painted on...) and ended up here: http://www.veryboygeorge.com/dizzy_index.html Boy George is very fond of using commas. Still haven't found the photo. xxxxx ~robin ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V8 #172 ***************************
