Before I start- I think this will sound like spam ,but really, it is not. I just thought it might be of interest to some of the musicians on this list and perhaps even Thomas himself. There is an article today on Wire about a new music label that distributes online and gives the artist 50% of the revenue with no restrictive contracts:. http://www.wired.com/news/digiwood/0%2C1412%2C60732%2C00.html They are called Magnatune http://www.magnatune.com and their slogan is "we are not evil". I like their logo because it looks kind of like an audio meter bar or stylized "m", but also looks like a hand with the middle finger raised - obviously to the big record companies. I noticed in their links section that they have a link to CDBaby, so there is some connection there to something Thomas has done. Perhaps this will be a good way for Thomas to distribute the new music he is working on without having to deal with the big 5. Anyway, check it out. If anybody on the list gets "signed" please let us know so we can all go and buy your album. I'm listening to their rock stream right now and I'm liking what I hear so far. There is a song by Beth Quist playing right now that is pretty nice. - -Keith ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V8 #162 ***************************
