I wandered down the street about 2 blocks from my new home and took a look around while doing laundry on Tuesday. There is a shop called "funky find" where there are all sorts of groovy furnishings from the 50's to 70's. Then there's the Aeolian Hall (best acoustics in town!!) and the Forest City Gallery (alot of underground artists etc.) then there's the G&A bookshop. In the front it has a large section for books and magazines with another small section for jokes, gags and other nck nacks. In the back there is a sea of Vinyl from 45's to 12"singles and a ton or two of LP's that are almost all in pristine condition. So on top of 5 regional Roots heroes of mine that I found vinyl for I also found "the Flat Earth" in very good condition with the exception of the cover that has that familiar vinyl ring impressed into it. So now I own some Thomas on vinyl as well which brings my collection to 5 pieces. I looked for rare stuff but alas I found none. I think I have the bug now and am going to hunt for everything I can find. There are some good vinyl shows and sales coming up in London, you never know... I might get lucky with one of them. My first thought when I found the album the other day was "Now, who the heck would want to give this up?" ;) Peace all, Ian Ian Gifford Singer/Songwriter http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/187/ian_gifford.html http://www.rootsmusiccanada.com Radio show host ("For The Folk") On-air Alternating Wednesday Evenings 8:30pm to 10:00pm (est) available for Real Audio and Media Player at http://www.chrwradio.com _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? Yeah, I found stuff like that in second hand places and used to think the same. I feel I was naive and now realize the real truth... it was probably nicked. I realised this after a friend got burgled. He found a lot of his CD collection in a local second hand place I get loads of "gems" from. Makes me feel awkward about shopping there now. Wonderoing how often my happiness cost someone else sorrow... Oh I've depressed myself already today... - -- PRAEst76 http://www.cancellation.freeserve.co.uk/praest76/ ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V8 #140 ***************************
