["Crackers" Subject: Alloy: Who's been messing with the internet again? Holy crap! What in the world is going on with the internet today? This e-mail account has been fine, but the e-mail account I use for my comic ghastly@tms2.net has been getting a royal butt-thumping today. A normal day I get 100 emails to that account. 50% of them are Spam. 20% of them are virii and the rest are e-mails from readers and friends. Today I've been getting 100 e-mails an HOUR!!! All of them the Sobig virus. It's freaking nuts! I'm glad this account isn't getting hit up like my other one is. I've given up the battle on my tms2 account. I've decided it's easier to just let it get swamped until the disk quota is full and let the account shut down than it is to keep trying to delete and filter the buggers. I figure this virus will probably run it's course in a few days and it'll be safe to purge my account and open the e-mail box up again. Anyone else out there really getting pounded by this particular virus? I had problems in the past with the Klez virus being sent to me but it was nothing compaired to what this virus has been doing. Man... just nasty! I have another account on a site that is getting buried too. Fortunately.. this account has not been hit hard at all.. at least not yet. But I am on a Mac so they have some built in protection from what I understand against this virus. At least I hope so! Back to lurk.. Ciao for now. It seems that either this virus has run its course or the account provider for my other e-mail address has gotten hip to the virus and is blocking it themselves. That was one really freaking brutal virus. Appearently the virus itself would only infect newer versions of windows, so being a 98SE user I was safe. Man... who knew having such a suck-assed computer could be a benefit?
