Well I'm just glad its not just me getting these emails pouring in every day - I asked my wife the other day if it was her who had arranged for these mails as a hint in some way - I also seem to be inundated with some young ladies wanting me to view their webcam - & although that could be tempting - my wife believes im hooked on porn on the web & yet ive never actually viewed any of these .Believe me . Is there anyway of blocking unwanted mails ?? Ive managed to actually play this single by Mark Beer now on my good old trusty turntable -- wow i love vinyl - & its basically poetry backed by synthesizers. I could be wrong but I do think it is our Thomas - the opening notes sound similar but cant put my finger on it - think its 'Pedestrian Walkway' - need to play that again & compare. The only entry on the internet I can find of this single is in regards Crepuscle label appears some slight connection with this item - & thus will be around the time Airwaves was recorded & released on that label. So until proven wrong or suitably advised by Mr Dolby himself - I will be listing the item among my Thomas collection. AND IM UNANIMOUS IN THAT !! (as Molly Sugden would say in Are You Being Served ). Many people swear by Mailwasher. I'm not sure if it's free. Frankly since I heard about those peddlers of anti-spam software who got linked to spamming to increasing trade I've thought all sellers of anti-spam methodology to be somewhat suspect. Me I just rely on a complex series of filters. Most of it gets delivered straight to the trash now. - -- PRAEst76 http://www.cancellation.freeserve.co.uk/praest76/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2003 09:10:17 -0400 From: "Robin Thurlow" Subject: RE: Alloy: Your concern is very touching. Those same "young ladies" (who are really a bunch of guys working out a business scam) were emailing me constantly too, with subject lines such as "It's been a long time.." and even once: "My husband is out of town!" (!!!) I can see why this junk would be unwelcome in one's household. For filters I just rely on whatever they update us with here at the university. But I know the junk is still out there, because of the number of non-member submissions bounced to me from the Alloy server every day. xx ~robin ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2003 06:52:30 -0700 (PDT) From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Re: Alloy: Your concern is very touching. My email service provider has done a pretty good job of filtering email for me (http://www.netidentity.com). I used to never get any spam at all, but it has been getting though more and more often now - I guess there is only so much a filter can do. Things like: "dk Affvrdablk krectmon fvrmuld that works!" still work their way through. Why do they spam us? Is it really worth their while - who actually buys what they are selling? Seems to me it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Are there really idiots that buy what they are selling? Wont' they just all go out of business or give up after a while? Even if just one idiot out of a 10 million emails sent buys their product, then it is cheaper advertising than most snail mail.
