Hi y'all, Just got hooked up tonight with ADSL (hey, in oz it's still a big deal!) so decided to take this new bandwidth for a spin... Fired up iTunes and flicked over to radio (streaming stuff) what did I hear on the second station I clicked on? SBMWS extended version courtesy Radiostorm. Sweeeet! :-) P. ADSL! Gee, how 1998 (:-) Just kidding - welcome to broadband land. I've had DSL for a while and it is great. I hope you are aware that if you ever move, broadband access will be a requirement for your new home. No way could I ever move somewhere that required me to use dial-up, I just couldn't handle it. Wish I could try that I tunes - but I'm Mac impaired. Naughties - I like that. - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Baily" To: Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 6:17 AM Subject: Alloy: Just got with the naughties... > > Hi y'all, > > Just got hooked up tonight with ADSL (hey, in oz it's still a big > deal!) so decided to take this new bandwidth for a spin... Since it's the desert (very few obstacles in the line of sight), we invested in a wireless setup. It's sweet! Speaking of the desert, I was listening to AAMB the other day and reminiscing through the liner notes. Something struck me dumb: the photo on the inner sleeve (of the Buick inside the UFO's beam) is EERIELY familiar. Not only does it look like it was shot here where I live, it looks like the very HIGHWAY on which I live. I say that because I've been here long enough to recognize the way the mountains look in the distance. That, plus, if this is an old pic (and it's at least from 1988) -- the highway in question is a state route -- here before many of the other side streets. I wonder if there's an answer to "where did you shoot that picture?" Or was it an old stock photo? Well I wanted to weigh in on the CD Baby numbers as I ended up at #50. I enjoyed the mixes but it just reminded me of how much I miss new music from Mr. Dolby as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the charting of "She Blinded Me With Science". Wow, 20 years! Seems like yesterday I was buying a cassette tape of "The Golden Age Of Wireless" at Montgomery Wards (Wards? What's that?) and playing it repeatedly into oblivion. Let's all hope that a new album release isn't totally out of the question in the near future! One of those extra-cheesy lame movies with the paper-plate-on-a-string UFO's? Covered with tin foil.
