Well, I thought I ought to get in touch with you guys after 4 or 5 years, as upstairs in my office is a certain TMDR!!!! He's sat with his back to the door having a meeting with some of our senior dudes. It's the first time I've seen him in the flesh and it's very exciting. I hope you're all well - I left Alloy accidentally when changing jobs years ago and never really got back on board. I hope you're all well - who's still around? I well remember Croydon, Crackers, Keith, Robin etc - ah, the good old days... Love to all... the_copse ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2003 06:33:11 -0700 (PDT) From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Re: Alloy: Back after a long time... My dear Copse, I still have the book of your brother's poetry you sent me years ago, and every time I see it I think "what's Tim up to I wonder!" So please fill us in on all that's happened in the last four or five years, and we want details. We've missed you! xx ~r The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Hey Tim, I too was wondering what you were up to these days. Are you still giggingh with Kezi Silverstone or have you had to give that up to become an O2 wage slave? Nice to have you back. Did you get to speak to Mr D? We were having a spring clean and I decided to clean the windows. I'd done all the downstairs ones and all the upstairs ones except for the bathroom. The window for the bathroon is above the kitchen extension and I can't stand on the roof or I'd break the tiles. So I put the ladder next to the extension and use a squeegee thing on a long pole to reach it. Unfortunately I didn't anchor the ladder at the bottom and while I was up there it slid away and I fell on to the patio on my back from about 12 feet up. I was winded and hurt my back and left leg but only hit my head on the patio window rather than the concrete of the patio. My wife came rushing out to see if I was OK and after a couple of minutes I was able to get up. Apart from probably being bruised I thought I was OK, but after a while my left hand began to swell up, just behind the knuckle of my little finger. I decided I'd better go to casualty so my daughter took me. They checked me over and x-rayed my hand and it turns out that I've fractured the bone. They strapped it up and I had to go back to the fracture clinic Today. They originally said I might just have to have it strapped or it might have to be 'fixed' by which I assume they mean pinned. On Monday I was really stiff, particularly my back, but I am managing sleep at night. I feel so stupid. I KNOW about securing ladders so it should never have happened. Still, it could have been a lot worse so I'm grateful for that. I went to the fracture clinic today and had more X-rays. The news is GOOD. Although the bone has begun to set very slightly out of alignment I don't need it reset, pinned or even plastered, just strapped up for around 4 weeks. The hand is still swollen, but that will go down on its own. I have to go back next week to check it's still healing OK, but it's looking like I've been very lucky indeed. I'm about to take on some work in technical theatre and I'm dreading having to climb ladders and scaffolding to do the lights. I bet I'll have a story to rival yours soon. I'm so glad you're on the mend. Do you have a copy of your xrays you can post? xx ~r ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2003 23:54:11 +0100 From: Subject: Re: Alloy: OT News : Stupidity of Slarv Robin, Regrettably the National Health Service, while being free, does not give you copies of your X-rays. This is shame really because I found them quite interesting. On Sunday they took them before I took my wedding ring off and it looked like that hand in the opening credits for the X Files. My wedding ring has a very small diamond in it, and the hole it fits in came out as a pin-prick of darkness on the X-ray. Quit spooky really. I wonder if they'd let me take pics of them with my new digital camera...... Robin, make sure they stick to the health and safety rules when you have to start climbing those ladders. Don't leave any opportunity for accidents to happen. And take care too. If you're not happy climbing ladders, and some people just aren't, then get someone else to do it.
