Yesterday, for the third time in 2 or 3 years I saw RITCHIE (an old brazilian 80's new-wave star) talking about how internet can help musicians to present and sell their work. He began explaining how non-musicians (the users) could now interact with the music and even remix it using the proper tools. Then he said he knew someone who knew Thomas Dolby and put him in contact through e-mail. Ritchie received an e-mail from Thomas and he couldn't believe it. He said: "God! It is an e-mail from Thomas Dolby!!" He said he was a fan since Science (and sang it a bit). He even asked the interviewer if she knew Thomas Dolby and she answered "yes, sure!" Then he said Thomas had invited him to work with him at Beatnik in St. Mathew and when he arrived he couldn't believe it: Thomas was very friendly and forward and said to him: "Hello Ritchie, I have a Beatnik client and I need you to put sound on his web page".... Ritchie said that Thomas client was nothing less then Yahoo! He finished saying: "Can you imagine that? Thomas Dolby wanted me to put sound on Yahoo! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2003 09:31:45 -0600 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: Beatnilk on Brazilian TV I the online music phase of Beatnik is over with. Last time I looked at their site it was all about mobile devices. All the fun demos are gone. No more links to remixes. I couldn't even get Beatnik to install on my Win2K system. I would imagine XP is the same. Ah well, fun while it lasted. For those who missed the memo from last year - Thomas resigned as Head Beatnik and is now out on his own giving courses on the Beatnik technology: http://www.headspace.com - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paulo" To: Sent: Thursday, April 10, 2003 5:52 AM Subject: Alloy: Beatnilk on Brazilian TV > > Hello! > > Yesterday, for the third time in 2 or 3 years I saw RITCHIE (an old brazilian > 80's new-wave star) talking about how internet can help musicians to present > and sell their work. > > He began explaining how non-musicians (the users) could now interact with the > music and even remix it using the proper tools. > > Then he said he knew someone who knew Thomas Dolby and put him in contact > through e-mail.
