Or even if it is.. how is everyone doing? heard any good gossip lately? I've had a sad couple of weeks, as my little ferret who was only four years old, has died of an infection I'd been treating him for. He'd seemed to be getting stronger and acting like his old playful self again. But two weeks ago, he took a sudden turn for the worse and within the space of eight hours he had died. A very crushing blow to me, Especially since we'd been living apart for a whole year previous to this because my tiny 'transition' apartment would not permit pets. I've only just been able to live with him again as of mid-January. I've got a new baby ferret now (little Nemo) because I couldn't bear the empty apartment. We're quickly becoming good friends. He's living up to his name as well. I've never seem a little creature sleep in so many strange positions, even dangling off the edge of his platform with his head lolling downward and his feet in the air. The new apartment is coming along.. my favorite portrait of Thomas is now officially on the wall! and I'mm begging him to write some music for bellydance which I've been practicing for fitness since October & it's become quite a passion for me. I would love to hear from everyone to know how all the alloys are doing. I've been really thinking of everyone and wishing we could chat. xx ~r Yahoo! I spent most of Monday night through Thursday at home snowbound surrounded by about 4 feet of snow on the ground. Luckily I never lost power, but I did have to "rough it" with only local TV via "rabbit-ears" This was due to a tree collapsing under the weight of the snow in my yard blocking my satellite dish's view of the sky. I spent most of my time either sleeping, or wading 3 blocks in the snow down to my local 7-11 for coffee and donut gems. Now I have to call a company about taking out what is left of the spruce tree that collapsed in my yard under the weight of the snow. It was a heavy snow, but no one is complaining since we need every bit of water we can get due to a couple of years of drought. Anyone interested can see my pictures of the blizzard here: http://cards.webshots.com/cp-50156154-pvtW-album/66941351rJmHXz - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robin Thurlow" To: Sent: Monday, March 24, 2003 8:24 AM Subject: Alloy: (OT) checking in > > With our minds so much on the war and the complex issues arrising from it, I wonder if we might talk a bit here about what we're all doing lately that isn't war-related. I've been really thinking of everyone and wishing we could chat. I'm doing pretty good. The new band is starting to come into its own. The MP3s I've been putting up on my MP3 of the Week page ( http://ghastly.keenspace.com/mp3.html ) seem to be very popular but saddly not too many people send me e-mail about them or comment about them to my BBS. I've been getting tonnes of fan e-mail and the other week I crossed a milestone. I got my first "nekkid photo" from a fan which was too cool for words (and she had some capital knockers to boot). This moves me up the webcomic ladder to a whole new level. Now I'm in the same club as Josh Lesnik and Hard. Saddly, although cafepress merchandise sales are moving quite well nobody has as of yet sent me a photo of themselves wearing my clothing line, particularily the ladies undies. Readership has grown to over 16000 readers and I'm netting about 300000 pageviews each month. This fills me with an odd conflicting feeling. On the one hand It's absolutely wild that my hobby has attracted such a large audience of faithful fans. Even though it's just "internet celebrityship" it's still a nice ego stroker. On the other hand it's a little depressing that I have more fans who enjoy what I do as a hobby than I do who enjoy what I do for a living (music). I've been tentatively invited to be on a panel for an anime convention this summer. Too early to know if it's an absolute go yet but it was so cool to be asked. It certainly lends a bit more legitimacy to my comic. I've never been to an anime convention, or Star Trek convention, or any kind of fan convention before. I've always wanted to go but have never been able to make the time and I've always been a little apprehensive about going to one on my own. It just seems like the kind of thing you have to do with a friend. If this panel thing works out I'll definetly be going. I've been to various multi-media and music industry trade shows, but I don't think they've got the same element of pure zany whackiness that an anime convention would have. You also don't get people in cosplay at the industry shows. http://www.fansview.com/2002/otakon/ I've been begging (read: pestering) Thomas to write new music too. I've told him he should take a little trip to Japan and spend some time there and get some work composing music for anime series. I think he'd be brilliant at that. Maybe he could even do a little voice acting too. Then I could get invited to an anime con as a guest web-manga artist and Thomas will get invited as an anime composer and I'll finally get to meet the guy face to face. In other really good news, now that it is spring this is the first winter I've made it through without suffering a massive illness. Every winter I would get two or three massive chest infections that would leave me gasping for breath and very tired sometimes for 3 weeks at a stretch. Summers wern't much better. I as basically only healthy for a brief period in the spring and the fall. Last summer I finally decided to go see the doctor about it and it turns out I've been suffering from undiagnosed asthma all these years aggrivated by a motility reflux problem pushing stomach acid into my lungs while I sleep. Extra meds for my motility reflux and the odd suck on a puffer and I've been healthy as a horse all winter long. Can't wait to see how well I hold out this summer. Bought myself a dremel recently. Plan to carve myself a new walking stick. This winter was very hard on my arthritis. I had a difficult time walking in the bitter cold. Hopefully next year I'll have a vehicle of some sort (I'm partial to a Volvo stationwagon for saftey and band equipment haulage features). Been practicing carving with the dremel tool. Lots o' fun and so far no cut fingers. That is pretty much it for what has been happening in my life lately... other than eagerly awaiting Cafepress to start it's print publishing division (hopefully the baseprices will be better than their CD publishing division).
