Firstly at myself. Secondly at everyone else on Alloy except Paul, Robin and Kate. I know there's not been much activity on Alloy recently, but this is the worst showing of Christmas and New Year Greetings ever. I think we have to accept that there's not much new to talk about on the TMDR front, but we used to have more of a sense of community on this list, which seems to have petered out, and that makes me very sad. Very belated Christmas and New Year greetings to all. Thug 2: "Yeah, what HE said." Thug number 3 - yeah - what he said. Hey everyone - what'd you do today? Today, I had a leisurely day around the house. Bought one of those FoodSaver vacuum packer thingies and searched my kitchen and fridge to see what I could vacuum pack. The coffee beans were the most impressive - a big ole hard plank of coffee beans forever fresh - safe from the stale causing air. Getting ready to start eating right and working out again tomorrow. Got to get rid of those added holiday pounds. Hi, folks; Well, if Robin was still able to send out holiday greetings despite being in the midst of moving three households including her own, I probably have no excuses, but I was definitely not sending out messages over the holidays that were not absolutely urgent. We just got back yesterday from the Holiday Trip From Hell. Those of you who have traveled with multiple very young children (an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old in our case) will know what I mean. Of course, we were staying at the decidedly non-childproofed Georgia and Florida homes of my elderly parents, one of whom (my dad) is recovering from rotator cuff surgery and the other of whom is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's. So my dad keeps needing help with anything that would require significant use of his right arm, while my mom keeps chiding us for not telling her stuff that we've told her six times already. And then my dad, the ultimate perfectionist all his life, keeps yelling at her every time she forgets something. And all the time one of us has to be hovering over the 18-month-old to keep him from dropping heavy knick-knack on his foot or worse, and everyone's sleep-deprived because the kids aren't used to sleeping in the same room and keep waking each other (and us) up. Not to mention the constant driving around to see as many relatives as possible in both places, while trying to work around kids' nap schedules and making sure that the little one had enough to eat in the diaper bag. Or the drive in the rented car from Georgia to Florida, when we hit heavy traffic on the way out of Atlanta and didn't arrive until 3:00 am and still had to set up the kids' beds when we got there. (Of course, they slept in the car and were up and raring to go at 7:00 am.) Fortunately, all the relatives seemed to love seeing the kids, and they (the kids) did great on the plane trips. And my husband was the only one to get sick. So it could have been worse. But still, we practically wanted to kiss the carpet when we walked in the door yesterday (and probably would have had there been less cat vomit on it - -- must talk to the cat sitters we used...) Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! - -Beth ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Jan 2003 00:38:51 -0000 From: Subject: Re: Alloy: Merry Christmas! Today? Didn't do much because I've got terrible catarrh and had a bad night's sleep. Got up late and put food out for the birds and squirrels, and melted the water in the bird bath. Watched the squirrels burying nuts and the magpies digging them up again. We took down the Christmas decorations and put them back in the loft, and I went to the supermarket and bought a dozen bottles of Lucozade because neither my wife nor I have much appetite at the moment (she's had a bad cough for about a week), and then to the chemist to get some Mucron to try to clear this cararrh. Then I had a nap, to try to catch up on some of the sleep I missed last night. Watched Charlie Dimmock's program on the 12th Duchess of Northumberland building the biggest water garden to be built in Europe since Versailles. Then we watched 'My best Friend's Wedding' because there was nothing better on TV, and then I logged on to see what's going on in cyberspace. Looking back on it, it seems like I did quite a lot, actually. As for I (normally quiet anyway), my wife and I purchased our first house this past Nov. So with getting settled in and the holidays it has been quite busy. But now that we're mostly settled in (spending the HomeDepot gift certs that we received for xmas), life is getting back to some form of normal (if there is one). Maybe I'll even start updating the website again. TTFN - -Russ http://www.tmdrfan.com/ Slarvibarglhee@alloy99.freeserve.co.uk wrote: >Well, I'm pretty disgusted. Firstly at myself. I said Happy Holidays to everyone too, so there. ;) I have to admit I was rather surprised at the lack of communication as well - thought maybe I'd fallen off the list or something. In fact, I was just fixing to send an "Is anyone out there" message to check on that when yours came in. What have I been doing? Aside from dealing with the holiday crunch, I've been wrestling with dietary issues stemming from my blood sugar levels indicating I'm pre-diabetic. My doctor wants me to cut down on carbs and lose a moderate amount of weight to stave off the advent of full-blown diabetes. I've also been playing a fair amount of Asheron's Call 2 and trying to keep up with my other mailing lists. Tomorrow we all go back to our regular routine, which means getting up at 6am to make sure Brigid gets to school. Have I ever mentioned that I'm not a morning person? ;) Robyn M @ Robyn Moore @ http://www.wiccans.net/robyn.html @ You knew the job was dangerous when you took it. - S.C. ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V8 #3 *************************
