["Robin Thurlow" Subject: Alloy: Thomas (and me?) on TV tomorrow night! Thomas has just informed me that a storytelling event he participated in this past March is going to be televised tomorrow and Wednesday. The channel it's on is called Trio, which is an extra Cable network you have to request if you don't already have it. The episodes are called "Rock n' Roll Saved My Life". Since the event was in the NYC area & it had been ages since I've seen him, Thomas kindly invited me to be his guest at the event.. so heaven only knows, I may be on the TV too (in braids and black velvet and clutching a pellegrino, and trying to figure out how to work the digital cam without having the flash go off & getting in trouble!) Thomas asks that if anyone has the channel and can make a VHS tape of it, would they be able to get a copy to him? And for me, for that matter.. it seems neither one of us has a TV. I will pay you money!! Information follows: - ----------- Tuesday, November 26, 2002 8pm Rock n Roll Saved My Life 9pm Hitting Bottom 10pm Relationship Wars 11pm Baseball Stories Wednesday, November 27 8pm Baseball Stories 9pm Food and Love 10pm Rock n Roll Saved My Life 11pm Carpe Diem Trio is available in New York City on Time Warner Digital Cable Channel 102, or on DirecTV channel 315. To get channel information for the rest of the US or to check out further re-run dates for each episode, go to www.triotv.com. Thanks everyone, and blessings to anyone who manags to get this on tape... xxx ~Robin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Nov 2002 15:20:17 -0700 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: Thomas (and me?) on TV tomorrow night! DireTV,TiVo,DVD,TMDR,AV LOL BYW - was that just one episode that gets repeated the second night, or two different ones? - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith Stansell" To: Sent: Monday, November 25, 2002 3:20 PM Subject: Re: Alloy: Thomas (and me?) on TV tomorrow night! > > I have DirecTV so I should be able to snag it with my TiVo and put it on DVD > for you and TMDR. I think it may be two different episodes.. there were quite a few speakers there. Everyone had great stories, though, so they'd all be worth watching. Thomas' story was one of the last I think (but please don't take my word for it.. my memory is shot lately) Joe Jackson's was quite a slice of the English pub scene, from when he was a young musician just starting out. Thanks so much for offering to capture it, Keith! I owe you one... I don't know what the consequences would be, but do you think there's a chance you could get Thomas' segment on the Web somehow? or am I talking copyright infringement? (probably... but if it were just for us...?) xxx ~Robin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Nov 2002 14:55:24 -0800 (PST) From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Re: Alloy: Thomas (and me?) on TV tomorrow night! More alphabet soup.. can the DVD be copied easily onto VHS somehow-or-other? I have access to both via friends to whom this techno-stuff comes as second-nature. IOW a DVD of it can come to me & I can tape it onto VHS? Thanks again Keith!!! I must think of a special thing to do just for Keith, to thank him for this. Also let's talk $ in terms of what I owe you in DVD & shipping. xx ~robin Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. The DVD can easily be copied to VHS by running the video out of the DVD player to the video in of a VCR. There is no copy protection on the home-made DVD's like on the Hollywood discs. I can put it on VHS if you need it. A DVD is just easier to store and looks a lot better. The blank DVD's are as low as $2-$3 dollars these days and around the same to mail (unless you want priority, then about $3.50) As for something special in the way of thanks ...I seem to remember you making scrumptious chocolate chip cookies :-) - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robin Thurlow" To: Sent: Monday, November 25, 2002 3:55 PM Subject: Re: Alloy: Thomas (and me?) on TV tomorrow night! > > More alphabet soup.. can the DVD be copied easily onto VHS somehow-or-other? I'm going to have to talk to someone at City TV or CHCH about getting Thomas on a TV show on a channel I do get. Did see him on that record industry sitcom filmed in BC a year or so ago. I thought he did pretty damned well on that. The lad should squeeze some acting into "Phase Two" of his master plan. Let's get Thomas to be the host/musical guest of Saturday Night Live or something. Looks like the program descriptions are not all-inclusive. I found the press-release on their site announcing the series. Here is the description of "Rock 'N Roll Saved My Life": . "Rock n' Roll Saved My Life" (Premieres: November 19) -- Host: Actor Tony Hendra (This is Spinal Tap). Storytellers: singers/songwriters Joe Jackson ("Steppin' Out") and Suzanne Vega ("Luka"); novelist Romy Ashby (The Cutmouth Lady); Moldy Peaches band member Kimya Dawson; and five-time Grammy nominee, Thomas Dolby Robertson (She Blinded Me With Science). http://www.triotv.com/corp/press/2002/pr1022c.html This looks like an interesting channel. I removed it from my channel lineup thinking it was a home shopping channel for some reason. I must have tuned in when there were airning "paid programming". That's the problem with so many channels, you never really know what you have. I'm watching The Moth right now. Interesting, can't wait to see TMDR on there. The TiVo is ready to go. - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "graham stuart" To: Sent: Monday, November 25, 2002 6:34 PM Subject: Re: Alloy: Thomas (and me?) on TV tomorrow night! > > Hi robin any idea if he is supporting another band on this show, I can't > find anything other than matchbox 20 on the net regarding a storytellers > show... > Can you help me with any other info > > graham ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V7 #237 ***************************
