My turntables are upstairs and my computer is downstairs so it's a bit of a hassle getting vinyl into the computer unless I record them onto cassette first but I've only got one cassette machine and that's down here too. For those with a copy of the Wreck of the Fairchild 7" from Spain - this has a unique sleeve of Thomas tied to a concrete slab with a blindfold over him -I think its actually a still from one his videos - (I think poss. Windpower - a while since ive watched my videos). Anyone else got a favourite ? Favourite other band sleeve - has to be ' The Festival of Frothy Muggament '7" by Firmament & the Elements - more like a cover off an old box of chocolates with an illustration of a woman & two kiddies dancing down a hill waving hankies in the air - - marvellous. The most disturbing for me has to be: Dissidents single. The funnyiest: Aliens Ate my Buick..some nice pop art in therre somewhere! The wierdest: Gothic. What? You mean you haven't got your turntables hooked up to a LAN yet? What the hell is you're excuse man? We're living in the 21st century here. Crackers (For shame from hell!!!) Ghastly's Ghastly Comic http://ghastly.keenspace.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Sep 2002 13:10:34 -0700 From: "Crackers" Subject: Alloy: Cafepress swag. A lot of you are probably familiar with Cafepress. They started out as an online T-shirt vender and then quickly branched out into products like mugs and mousepads and now they offer a huge line of merchandise. Manufacturing is all handled on a per-order basis so if you start a Cafepress store there's no out of pocket expenses to get up and running (well other than the expense involved in actually designing an image to be printed on the merchandise and I guess the expense of having internet access to access the Cafepress site to put your design on the merchandise). Thomas, have you ever given any thought to setting up a Cafepress store to merchandise some "Dolby swag". The amount of products they offer now is mind numbing. Beer steins, posters, backpacks, all sorts of stuff. I'm sure if you went through your personal photo albums you'd find a picture or two that could be manipulated into a really cool T-shirt or poster. Who here wouldn't pay big bucks for a poster of Brenda O'Leary perhaps in a red bathing suit similar to the famous Farrah Faucet poster that graced so many of our bedrooms in the 70s. Just something for you to ponder. A creative chap like you should have no problem thinking of wild and wonderful ways to market your image. Cafepress has been working pretty good for TV's Wil Wheaton. http://www.wilwheaton.net I've just recently started using Cafepress to market merchandise for my comic strip. Sometimes, however, in my zeal to exploit every possible product that cafepress offers I wonder if perhaps I do not go a little too far. http://www.cafeshops.com/cp/prod.aspx?p=ghastly_bjbib.3380595 You be the judge. I think I've lost all objectivity. Dear sweet mother of god, am I even human anymore? Crackers (So very wrong from hell!!!!) Colin Hay, Colin Hay, Colin Hay. I've been a huge fan of his post-MAW stuff... he's put out some great albumns. I would consider him among my top 15 favorite artists. So, (~6 years ago), when a buddy who coordinated concerts at my University asked me what I thought of hosting Hay, I just about creamed. So, Colin Hay came. I was so giddy with anticipation that I was sloshed by the time he played. I was with a huge group of friends. It was a very intimate and acoustic show. He was basically right among the crowd... It was INCREDIBLE. So, being a very "involved" person on campus, it was no trouble for me to get backstage access after the show, where I met Mr. Hay! We had a lovely little chat... Until, I asked him where I could get his latest at the time, "Topanga", which wasn't yet available in Canada. He told me to write his label, "Lazy Eye Productions", and made a joke about his lazy eye. Being sloshed, I replied "You're eye's not lazy, it's looking right at me". He replied that his eye was in fact, lazy. I insisted: "No way, I can see it... IT'S LOOKING RIGHT AT ME". At which point Mr. Hay lost complete interest in the conversation, and my friends dragged me out before I made more a of a fool of myself. Only me. Only me. Too funny. .............................................................................
