A popular term at my brother's high school anyway. Nevertheless, "Crackers" is one of our Alloy members from Canada, and he has a warped sense of humor, plus he plays accordion, thus, ..okay you get it now. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2002 20:59:17 +0100 From: PRAEst76 Subject: Re: Alloy: Stop Drop and Roll (OT) Elaine Linstruth said... > Hey Graham I immediately thought the same thing. We (Northern Irish) don't have any term for them being a country that barely accepts white people at the best of times, black culture really hasn't got any kind of start here. > Nevertheless, "Crackers" is one of our Alloy members from Canada, and he > has a warped sense of humor, plus he plays accordion, thus, ..okay you get > it now. I knew I remembered seeing someone posting under the name, wasn't sure if it was here. Now i know it was. didn't know the accordion bit. Does he paint and make weird noises while he's doing it too? - -- PRAEst76 http://www.cancellation.freeserve.co.uk/praest76/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2002 16:02:03 -0400 From: bluemeitz@cs.com Subject: Alloy: ads reply All those ads out there might be original but at times can be intrusive since they all play, in one way or another, upon the human psyche. I recall reading an article sometime ago entitled "Marketing is a Necessary Evil", in Modern Maturity. The article went on to say that while marketing is necessary to promote a service, a product, an idea, or whatever the method of promotion has been distorted to play upon different factors such as sex, gender orientated, urgent necessity, enhancement of some sort - for an example. The message that advertisers or marketers promote isnt simple but to play upon it in some way. Either advertising has gotten agressive in todays modern society or attitudes changed such that the initial response isnt good enough. Anyone with half a brain could almost analyze the hidden factors behind an advertisement but unfortunately much of society either doesnt see it or are uneducated to see the complete picture. If society were to understand the reason behind the scenes, marketing would have to be more truthful in its ways and that, at times, would be a challenge... Most people have too much to worry about in life, than to be hyper aware of all the ways advertisers and other peopel are trying to manipulate them. In the end you give up, or you don't even start. You keep your head down, you do what you are told, you go with the flow. Otherwise you become and outcast, which isn't a pleasant life for most people and not worth it. - -- PRAEst76 http://www.cancellation.freeserve.co.uk/praest76/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2002 23:19:55 +0100 From: "Sally Allan" Subject: Re: Alloy: Stop Drop and Roll (OT) > I knew I remembered seeing someone posting under the name, wasn't sure if it > was here. As for the painting, I'd advise you to look at his site sometime...but *not* when you are at work.
