Which I am personally very psyched about! but people who want one (or another) might not wish to wait. xx ~R ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2002 11:52:09 -0700 (PDT) From: Elaine Linstruth Subject: Re: Alloy: OT: Joe Jackson & Original Band To Record/Tour Hi all -- great news about JJ!! I did see his show last summer, but it was the second-to-last of the tour. They went home to NY a few nights later and, if I'm not mistaken, Julie & Damien went to see that show. I heard he was in better spirits for that one. He couldn't have been much worse. At the L.A. show he was surly and annoyed, because some asshole at the previous night's show in San Diego had gotten drunk and kept snapping his picture from the aisles in bootleg fashion. Something like that anyway. When I heard the story I couldn't decide if he was justifiably set off, or if he was a big baby. Either way it kinda ruined my concert experience but I didn't let it linger. Won't stop me from trying again next year! Drowning in wallboard compound and paint. Remodeling is the most stressful thing I've lived through in years.. and that includes childbirth. twice. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2002 12:28:14 -0700 (PDT) From: Brian Clayton Subject: Alloy: RealOne Player In case no one's mentioned it, there's a familiar face on the RealOne Mobile Player website.... http://www.realnetworks.com/mobile/nokia/index.html BC - -- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2002 12:36:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Elaine Linstruth Subject: Alloy: OT: artistic request from another forum I've seen people post things like these from time to time. The Art Carney reference is an in-joke.. there's an ongoing argument as to whether he has died or not. It's not the most p.c. group you'll ever meet. From Mike, aka Hollywood Hiller, on the off chance that any of you are into these: "I'm in the process of collecting material for a revue devoted to funny women (in the humorous sense), singers for the most part tentatively titled Skirts (or Skoits). I'm trying to find more stuff by the following ladies: Virginia O'Brien Martha Raye Judy Canova I have a lot of Betty Hutton, so she's covered (ditto modern era Christine Lavin, 4 Bitchin' Babes stuff), but the above mentioned are hard to find and I've hit a wall in sourcing. Any names of that era (30's-50's) that I missed would be appreciated. Funny Songs by Women is the criteria on any and all subjects ("If I can't Sell it" to "Cold Pizza for Breakfast") Any help y'all could give me on sources, material or suggestions would be appreciated. I come to you not only because you are the cream of the internet crop, but also you're some of the only folks I (sort of) know in LA that might be into some of this stuff. Thanks in advance...In the meantime I'll continue stalking [Art] Carney." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2002 20:39:25 +0100 From: PRAEst76 Subject: Re: Alloy: OT: artistic request from another forum Elaine sed: > I've seen people post things like these from time to time. I'm dying to hear his Elvis songs in Latin & Sumerian but they don't have any samples up, and it looks difficult to order from the states. (It might be easier if I could read Finnish writing.) Is it true? I used to know a guy from Finland who looked like an elf... though I also knew a Geordie who looked like an elf and my brother is Northern Irish and also looks kinda elven. I think Elvish oats sow thick and wide. None of them get time off work to remember the kinslaying though, no matter how hard they try. - -- PRAEst76 http://www.cancellation.freeserve.co.uk/praest76/ np: Peter Murphy - Subway ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V7 #148 ***************************
