My electronic thermometer is telling me it is 107.9F out there at 1:30 p.m. According to a converter I found that means 42.16666666666666667 celcius. Aiiieee! Now that it's a record-heat kind of game it's somewhat interesting. Otherwise this heat is past "damn hot," and I'm fast approaching the f-word. :) Elainie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Jul 2002 14:33:55 -0700 From: Jon Drukman Subject: Re: Alloy: And how is your weather? Aiiieee! it's a balmy 90F/32C here in san francisco. (interesting since on the same page it predicts todays high at 83F) - -jsd- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Jul 2002 14:49:37 -0700 (PDT) From: Elaine Linstruth Subject: Re: Alloy: And how is your weather? I spoke too soon. Mine hit 110.2 around 2:30. Our nearest landmarks are Saddleback Butte State Park right up the road, and Edwards A.F.B. about six miles to the north. It's raining nicely here, and the temperature has dropped from in the 80s (F) to about 65. What a fantastic relief. I'm going outside to take a long walk along the river. Weather in the 100s must be so hard to handle. I hope you have air conditioners or at least a lot of lemonade! ~R New! SBC Yahoo! I discovered on AT&Ts website, under Frauds and Scams that there are apparently three area codes that work within the US that are actually for 3 different countries in the Carribbean. And since they're not under the laws of the US, they can charge back anything they want for the long distance call. They said that if you're calling a trusted number in those area codes you're Ok, however... ...There are companies that operate in those countries that will send out stuff saying you've won, or you have an inheritance to claim, etc. and when you call, they charge you like $1,500 per minute and try to keep you on the phone for as long as possible. One of the area codes even looks similar to our free 800 area code numbers. So you think its a free call, then when you get your phone bill, you have these ridiculous amounts that you are required to pay since your phone company has a contract with their country that they will handle whatever charges you incur on their phone system. I forget those area codes, but if you look them up on AT&T's web site, you'll find them. I have them at work next to my monitor. I need to bring those home. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Monday, July 08, 2002 7:55 PM Subject: Re: Alloy: Anyone from Nigeria on the list? > > Hey Crackers.. > > I have been getting similar requests to help people smuggle millions out of > their bank.. but mine have been from some other city and country that I > don't now remember.. kind of interesting.. they give a telephone number > that I assume is a 900 type number that will charge me huge amounts if I were > to be so stupid as to actually call them up!
