While I was surfing the site I suddenly remembered the song "the Wreck of the Fairchild", a song about a plane crash on Mr. Dolby's first album. Years later, when I purchased the CD, the song had dissappeared, replaced by "one of our submarines". Was it maybe because it was based on a true plane crash? And is the song deleted therefore? Hello, Richard, and welcome to Alloy! "The Wreck of the Fairchild" was removed from all US releases of "The Golden Age of Wireless" to make room for other tracks. The first time around it was replaced by "Urges" and "Leipzig", then later by "She Blinded Me With Science" and "One of Our Submarines." Also, some tracks were shortened, such as "Airwaves" and "Windpower." To the best of my knowledge, there was no effort made to remove the song due to its subject matter; the more likely explanation is that, being largely an instrumental piece, it was deemed less "marketable" by the folks at EMI who had to pick and chose songs for the various re-releases of "Wireless." To see a list of the various versions of this album, please consult Lazlo's Discography Machine at: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?dolby And again, welcome aboard!
