[Robin Thurlow <robinthurlow@yahoo.com>] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 24 Apr 2002 15:00:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Robin Thurlow <robinthurlow@yahoo.com> Subject: Alloy: random things (OT, T?) First of the random things is that I have had no phone service from my home as of Saturday, and don't stand to have it in the near future... hence, no internet access except what I'm able to fit in at work or in the cafe. This is because for some mysterious reason, my service keeps being interrupted and the phone people have to actually come into my apartment to fix it. In the four months since I moved into my new place, this is the second time this has happened. Because I'm a full-time student and I also work full-time, I am literally almost never home (sometimes I don't even sleep at home, just stay all night at the studio because it's pointless!) I won't be home again during business hours until May 12th in fact. So, I plan to simply discontinue my phone service at this place, and get... a CELL PHONE (yes, you heard it correctly) I plan to move house agian anyway in either August or December, and will have my internet access back again due to hopefully better phone lines, but will of course keep the cell phone too. So here I come, into the world of cell phones. Yikes! anything I should look out for in phones, service providers etc? I will be looking in on Alloy just as frequently, but from different locations.. spooky. another thing... I'm hoping to be able to make a strange request.. I need some odd things for sculpture mixed media pieces. Does anyone here have any small tree or bush branches with thorns, such as acacia or locust? or even just the thorns by themselves? Also, does anyone have any small/miniature baby dolls (the more mouldering the better) left over from children's playthings by any chance? I would love to work with these, and to anyone who sends me anything, I'll happily reimburse mailing costs! Robin Thurlow BU 353 Binghamton University Binghamton NY 13902-6000 Anything odd really, unusual glass bottles, weird little gadgets, wooden things, needles, thermometers etc would also be very useful to me. But the thorns and baby dolls are what I'm actively seeking (a note for the sensitive... the thorns are *not* going to be used together in the same piece with the baby dolls, so rest assured I won't torment them! :) Hope all is well with everyone here. I have seen we have a number of new members here.. as always, we'd love it if you would tell us how you came to find Alloy, and especially how you first became acquainted with Thomas' music! xxx ~R Yahoo!
