Haven't been able to purchase the 'Forty' album, but will put it on my list. Been quite busy trying to make up my own songs and keeping busy and on my boss's good side at work. By the way, have to go now, gotta get back to work. Of course in my book Thomas is the 'Hot Sauce'... No explanation needed. Kate - New Wave Hippy of the Millennium!! ;-) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Apr 2002 10:46:09 -0700 From: Robyn Moore Subject: Alloy: Catching Up and Stuff Catching Up - Hi all - just checking in while I've got a few free minutes. Life's been busy as usual these days. We've been doing some minor maintenance on the house, getting the heating and cooling serviced, etc. Had to buy a new tv - the 12 year old Magnavox we had was making disquieting noises. Wound up getting a 27 in. Sony Wega, which is very nice. Next up is probably a switch from cable to satellite. AT&T Cable's annoyed me one too many times lately. Brigid's violin class gave a performance last night - they're surprisingly good for a bunch of fourth and fifth graders. Personally, given the ongoing school funding crises, I'm thrilled to bits they have the chance at music classes at all. Stuff - VH1 Classics has been Dolby-friendly these days...I've recently seen Radio Silence, SBMWS, and the 5 minute Heavy Breather Sub-Version edit of Hyperactive on it. I was particularly glad to see the last of these, since it was the video responsible for me falling in love with Thomas's work, and it disappeared for the longest time in favour of the shorter version. I saw that Launch.com also had the long version of Hyperactive - I wonder what the reason behind the sudden reappearance is. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. JAMac - Got your wedding invitation, and a lovely piece of work it is. Thanks ever so for sending it. Unfortunately, I can't make the trip, but I'll be there in spirit. Michael - Is that offer of Dolby footage for tape and shipping still good? I'm definitely interested. Crackers - Checked out your Capital H video...it's an honour to know such a sick-n-twisted guy. ;) And I have to agree with your friend who got in trouble at work - it's a catchy little number. Robin - I just picked up a compilation CD that Rasputina did some work on called 12 Tales. Not only is the music great, but the packaging includes a built-in booklet with illustrations by Amy Brown and short-short (3-6 small paragraphs) stories by Rasputina for each song. You should check it out - I think you'd really like it. Paul - I'm enjoying the pictures a lot. Maybe one of these days when we find room for our scanner, I'll work up the nerve to post a couple myself. A question for our Canadian contingent - Do any of you know if the series Traders is available on VHS or DVD? Trio, one of the "fine arts and pop culture" cable stations down here played it daily for 3 weeks last month, and then took it off the schedule, having gotten only a couple episodes into the second season. As you can guess, it was just long enough to get me hooked. Not that that was particularly tough, seeing as I'm a Patrick McKenna fan. (Red Green tonight - woot!) Name The Mexican, eh? I'll have to think about that and see what I can come up with. At any rate, I'd better close this up. Hope all is well with everyone, and I'll try not to be such a stranger. My friend Mikhail from Russia, a fellow Sculpture student, is selling part of his vast collection of antique Russian and European photographs. The link is: http://www.russianphoto.com There are some really beautiful ones. I especially love the "Toys" section (lovely childhood images) and "Erotica" (very sweet and romantic) And in the "Artistic" section.. all sorts of things! ~R Yahoo! Hot Sauce Video @ Launch.com Hi, folks; Well, I have no shortage of genuine Mexican names to choose from, since Milena is in a bilingual preschool, and also has a couple of "Plaza Sesamo" videos (that's the version of "Sesame Street" that is shown in Mexico and South America). Her best buddy in her class is named Izmart, but she persists in calling him Enrique for some reason -- fortunately, that doesn't seem to bother him! I like the name Enrique, not only for that reason but also because that is what Ernie is called in "Plaza Sesamo". (His roommate is "Berto".) Another first name from Milena's class that comes trippingly off the tongue is "Rogelio" (pronounced ro-HEEL-i-o, but with sort of a breathy H sound). And another good first name from the "Plaza Sesamo" series is "Archibaldo", which for some reason is their name for Grover. So I'd enjoy seeing either Enrique, Izmart, Archibaldo, or Rogelio. My favorite genuine Mexican last name is Jimenez, just because it's so much fun to say (if you try to do it right). As I continue to pick up bits of Spanish by osmosis, my favorite silly-sounding Spanish word is the one for peanut, "cacahuete". That wouldn't be a bad last name for a fictional character either. So, hmm... Enrique Cacahuete? Rogelio Jimenez? That latter one could make you sound like you're trying to dislodge something from your throat, but that could be fun. Well, my very limited computer time budget is about gone, so I'd better leave it at that -- Cheers, Beth Robin Thurlow wrote: > He mentions how pleased he is to see it again, especially the various Lost > Toy People in the Mariachi backup band.
