I haven't seen this latest tour, but I have seen Laurie Anderson a few times 
over the last ten years.  And I agree - she is absolutely mesmerizing on 
stage.  Whether in front of some gigantic video wall, or all alone with 
nothing but a mic and a spotlight, she is always utterly in command of the 
audience.  And she is SO funny!  There's no else quite like her.

And I do have to share my one little Laurie story, just for kicks.  When she 
came to Minneapolis on the Strange Angels tour, I went down to the radio 
station to watch her pre-show interview.  Afterwards, she was kind enough to 
sign autographs for the couple of dozen folks who were there for that event.

Instead of the usual album or CD, I decided to bring along an 18 x 24" marker 
pad, and a big black marker.  I just wanted to see what she would do with it. 
 And you know what she did?  She drew a picture of me!  It was so cool.  She 
just whipped out a little caricature and signed it right there on the spot. 

So I've always had a special fondness for Laurie.  Most of the pop music 
world seems to be occupied by unapproachable "stars" of questionable talent 
and intellect.  But despite her commercial sucess, Laurie Anderson remains a 
true artist, with a genuine connection to the people around her.  Three 
cheers Laurie, and her most excellent and always entertaining birds!
