I linked up my VCR on Sunday and captured an excellent quality "Submarines" in full resolution, but I think at over 6 gigabytes for the four minutes it may be a tad large to email!! I then compressed it to Quicktime, but it still left me with something like a 500MB .mov file, OK for a CD, but not for much else! Still I enjoyed testing Windows XP and my new NTFS drive. Stephen. PS. By the way, for any "Submarines" fans out there I have a video clip of Thomas performing it live in 1982 (sailors oufit and no shirt - must be hot in those studios!)from BBC TV's "Oxford Road Show" if anyone's interested I could probably grab it while I've got my machines linked together - I would be equally interested in a copy of that "Grammy Jam"!! GoLive does not create QuickTime files. Adobe After Effects and Premiere do, but they are not converters, per se. QuickTime Pro has some conversion functionality. >I then compressed it to Quicktime, but it still >left me with something like a 500MB .mov file, >OK for a CD, but not for much else! >I then compressed it to Quicktime, but it still >left me with something like a 500MB .mov file If you're capturing stuff at 640 x 480, 30 fps, you're not going to get much smaller. DivX presents entire movies in under 2 gbs (sometimes under 1) by looking entirely like crap. ;) Mpeg might be a little smaller, but . . . Anyway, 500 mbs is too big to email, perhaps, but not too big to FTP. I've got several gigabytes of FTP space available, should one want to FTP it up so someone else could FTP it down (and it's all a kosher transaction). It wouldn't be permanent, of course, just available long enough for general transfer. ;) Best. - -- Kevin S. I don't have any answers to your questions about the EWI but some of our many musicians might (I'm assuming this is some kind of computery, musical thing.. I'm still very backward about the technology of the music, still playing with wood myself.. :) I've yet to hear "Forty", though I should be hearing it soon. I'll post again about the song selection question when i do! xxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2002 21:26:06 -0500 From: Russell Milliner Subject: Re: Alloy: Submarines Footage I would VERY much like a copy of the video clip. I could setup an FTP site for you to upload it to. If you can get it to me, I'll cut it to VCD for playing in my DVD player. As for the Grammy Jam, I am still looking for that one. I know someone on the group has it, but doesn't have a way to dub or scan it. - -Russ Stephen Harris wrote: > > PS.
