I am really interested in this as I have spam problems at work. Please tell! Cheers, Jon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Feb 2002 03:09:37 -0800 From: "Crackers" Subject: Alloy: I'm being sued... yet again! Jesus fucking christ! Can I not go more than 2 months without someone screaming threats of legal action against me? This time it's not Reggie Dennis threatening to sue me because my nickname is Crackers. This time it's not some MegaTokyo lunatic threatening to sue me for... well, making them cry. This time the software company Infogram is threatening to sue me because of my Bira Bira webpage http://birabira.chaosmagic.com where I sell some Bira Bira T-shirts with the words "My Other Computer Is An Atari 2600" printed on them. The funny thing is... I haven't even sold one T-shirt yet. Cafepress.com just notified me they recieved notice of intent to sue from Infogram and they're going to shut down my store unless I can prove my case to them in 2 days. Piss me fricken off. Infogram doesn't even have a case. I'm not violating their trademarks or copyrights. Unfortunately Cafepress who control the printing of my T-shirts don't have the balls to stand up to Infogram so they'll probably cave and there won't be a damn thing I can do about it. Fricken pisses me off because I'd love it if they would actually sue me. They wouldn't stand a chance of winning (especially since Mattel tried to sue the band Aqua over pretty much the same thing and lost big-time) and the webpage could certainly use the publicity that such a lawsuit would get. Then I might actually manage to even sell a T-shirt. It's obvious Infogram knows they don't have a case but can intimidate Cafepress into shutting my store down. If they were really that rabid about sueing anyone using the word Atari they'd be sueing the bands "The Ataris" and "Atari Teenage Riot" and the web-magazine "Atari Age". Of course they're all much bigger and will fight back. I'd fight back too but I don't think Cafepress will give me the chance. Grrrrr. This is frustrating because if I controlled the printing of my T-shirts I'd be able to do something about it. Hmmmm.... maybe I can do something about it. First, i order a regular copy, after it was announced on alloy, and then in early Jan I ordered an autographed copy. I got number 200. There have been a few other alloy members who ordered after me and got lower numbers. I don't agree with that and felt it was unfair. As for your order, that really bites that you had to pay extra from cdbaby mistake. You should get some money back or a credit memo. Actually, I didnt have any problems with the cd shipment. I have nothing against the warm and fuzzy descriptive of the 40 cd but people nowadays have a "show me the money" attitude toward goods and services. I did feel that it took a little bit longer to arrive than was stated on my email so dont feel you are the only one. I ordered 20 minutes after the e-mail informing us about it was posted, It arrived this Monday and I have the highest number yet...386! I really shouldn't moan after all I do have a signed TD record but I can't see how I get such a high number when I ordered so quickly. Anyway I love the new version of One Of Our Subs - -- Philip P Woodcock ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Feb 2002 23:03:11 -0800 From: "jamac" Subject: Re: Alloy: Bishounen Science Master Thomas Dolby I used to use a 12 x12 tablet years ago when I was a draftsman. Unfortunately, the 'puck' wasn't very ergonomical and I ended up getting carpal tunnel syndrome which ended that carreer. That was my favorite job and I can never return (boo hoo hoo). My wrists don't hurt like they used to, but if I type or mouse too long, it starts to hurt. That's why I'm a PC tech today - not a whole lot of typing. > Chris & Beena Cracknell wrote: > > > Well because of my artritis I had to replace my mouse with a graphics tablet > > not long ago to ease the strain on my wrists and hands as I do my graphics > > work.
