My mom has had it for many years (she's now in her late 50s) and also a very good friend of mine has a really debilitating case (he's 32). They both take the pain meds and then also some other meds for the stomach problems the pain meds cause, and both get injections every so often. I agree with you about the scariness of untested herbs; I never understand why people think a "chemical" isolated in the lab is evil but the "natural substances" in the plant is good. Anecdotally, my aunt had significant pain-reduction success with acupuncture. Anyway, I hope you are able to find something that works for you and that you don't have to give up music!! - -- ______________________________________________________________________ Dr. Barbara Cohen, lunatic bcohen@higp.hawaii.edu Hawaii Institute of Geophysics & Planetology (808) 956-3901 (office) University of Hawaii at Manoa (808) 956-6322 (fax) Honolulu, HI 96822 http://www2.hawaii.edu/~bcohen/ ______________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 14:35:21 +0100 From: lulfstedt@amadeus.net Subject: Re: Alloy: French translator Wanted! //delurk// Robin, Feel free to send it to me,...my French isn't so hot, but there are plenty of people around here to help! I wonder if I could make a request, and ask for the help of one of our French-speaking Alloy members. I need to write a brief letter to the Pompidou Gallery in Paris, to ask if they have a bookshop which may have catalogues of past exhibits available. If I write a brief letter would anyone here be willing to volunteer to translate it into French for me? I would really appreciate it & I'd of course owe you BIG TIME. Thanks :) !!! xxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 11:06:54 -0800 (PST) From: Elaine Linstruth Subject: RE: Alloy: Robin is NOT a Scientologist On Mon, 5 Nov 2001, Bill Krzysko wrote: > There are quite a few websites that have details about the activities > of this group. Never request assistance from CAN, it's now run by Scientologists. A related story -- in the wake of the bombings, the American all-news channels began running their now-constant news ticker. At first they ran tollfree phone numbers for things like mental health crisis hotlines and emotional support type counselors. For September 11th and 12th, when you called one such number, billed as a generic crisis hotline, you connected to the Scientologists. Viewer complaints forced the channel to remove the number, but it goes to show how far the church went (and how quickly they jumped on the opportunity). I'm convinced that this is true for my family member that's become obsessively devoted to his organization now, too. I've definately seen a really big push in recruitment. It was marked for sale for $14.99. This is the rental copy, so there is some wear, but otherwise it appeared to be in excellent condition. If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know and I'll give you the store's phone number. The owner said shipping would run around $6.00 depending on weight and if you want it insured. He sends the LD by priority mail. I guess I'll go first come-first serve on who wants the info. - -Keith ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V6 #294 ***************************
