Keith -- Man, I'm sorry to hear this. I think I've already shared here how I got laid off at the end of June (just before Eric was born) and Mark was laid off three times between October 2000 and May 2001, so I know all too well what a pain that is. I may have some job leads for you if you're willing to head a bit north to work -- I'm a member of a neighborhood networking organization. If you let me know offline what kind of thing you're looking for, I can keep an eye out. My condolences, in any case. That really stinks. Hi Keith, I have a lot of sympathy for your situation,....telecom valley here in France is being hit similarly, and my husband and about 10 of his co-workers just lost their IT jobs in the same way. I'm also wondering if I'll get the axe, considering I'm in the IT/travel business, which has been hit doubly hard.....my contract's up at the end of the year, and I have no idea if it'll be renewed or not,...(now, if Sony would just give me that 3 million recording contract,...... :-) But I do think that a lot of firms are using the economic down-turn as an excuse to 'streamline' their operations (read: more profits for the management). World market's are already on the up, so I'm sure there'll be something out there for you. I really hope you find something fast Keith, as I'm sure you will, with your expertise and experience! The only comfort I can offer is that the first time I was laid off it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I got a new job that was far better paid with more interesting stuff to do and I went from having the boss from Hell () Crackers) to having a lovely considerate boss. My husband got laid off three times in a row and now contracts for a big firm who pay their contractors well and treat them nicely. So maybe in a years time you will say "I'm glad I got laid off".... Thanks everyone for the birthday/ear sympathy. Does anyone know where we can find the soundtrack for this movie?? It'd be great to have. If any of you get a chance, rent or buy the movie Rockula. It's a fun movie from the 80's era.
