Yay!! I'm feeling very proud of the people in NYC and Washington for their bravery and perseverence, handling the sheer physicality of this wreckage. Also, some weird things on the radio today. There's a group of artists in a studio complex in Brooklyn, whose view was of the WTC very prettily framed by the girders of the Brooklyn Bridge. They are having a show at their studio ("Barnstormers") which opened in August, and it's called "No Condition is Permanent". One of the painters had painted a sort of large portrait of the American flag for the show. One of his other paintings is of four jet engines. The show is getting news attention because a lot of people are asking him if these pieces are about the terrorist attacks, but in fact they couldn't be, since they were painted at least three months ago. There are all sorts of theories of time not being linear, and 'psychic' flashes being in fact some sort of glimpse into real (but non-linear) time that the person may not even be aware of. I had a strange dream the Sunday before the attacks were carried out, which I didn't understand at the time & still don't really. It was extremely vivid. I was in a big house with lots of other people, and there were spirits walking around sharing the spaces with us but not interacting at all. We could all see them, though, and had nicknames for them. We were trying to guess what each one's meaning might be (as in, why were they appearing). One spirit was of a man in a Beefeaters uniform. One day, I was watching him walk through the hallway and he suddenly stopped & looked straight at me. He said, "You want to know what my meaning is," and I said yes. He said, "I appear when there's going to be danger. You have to leave this house right now." I was a little startled & began gathering my things, which were on a chair next to me. But he said "No, you must walk straight out the door - now." I ran for the door, trying to get the rest of the people to follow, not knowing what was about to happen. But they complained that it was cold & raining, and they went back inside. I was uncomfortable too because I didn't have a coat, but I knew I could never go back into the house. The dream changed then & I don't know what was supposed to have been happening inside the house, but it was one of those dreams that left a bad feeling. At first I'd just thought it was something to do with Dave wanting to teach overseas (because of the international element of the Beefeater, and the anxiety of travel) But the terrorist attacks made me think of the dream, and the strangeness of it - having to leave a building because of an emergency you don't understand, or even suddenly being forced to leave behind a life you'd been comfortable with, to go forth into an unknown and uncomfortable future. I like to try to interpret dreams... I'm sure I'm completely wrong about most of them, but I just thought this was a little weird, given the timing. xxxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V6 #251 ***************************
