Now i'll try my share at some Dolby songs. I give you, The Flat Mass. (German to english) The mass can be each possible form, which you require it. Any form at all. Darkness and cold or bright and warm. Long or you dilute or small. But it is head and everything, which I had at all. And possibly, why for me the mass is flat. Friends asked me frequently, why I am sensitive over my height. I would look around and " Hmm say, thought I that I was immune ", had I waited my whole life span each possible word to be given. It screaming to be heard. Remember please..., The mass can be each possible form, which you require it. Any form at all. Darkness and cold or bright and warm. Long or you dilute or small. But it is head and everything, which I had at all and possibly, why for me the mass is flat. Turn the island to the storm this evening. If they bury the Daemonstartwert for random number generator. Make and confront you to the wind. All along you believed still. Believed you immune. And if love is everything, they is missing to schauen you into your inside. Is someone head? Remember please..., The mass can be each possible form, which you require it. Any in the world. But not it point of this raygun at me. I could explode even. I was booked on a direct Alitalia flight out of San Francisco on Saturday, and although it left a few hours late, it was one of the first international flights since Tuesday to have left at all. There was a remarkable calm at the airport, at security and during the flight--though the relief was palpable when we arrived safely in Milan, the first time for a few years that I've heard a spontaneous round of applause on touch down :) I want to let you know how very proud I am of you all. Catching up with the posts from the last few days, I am relieved to know everyone is more or less okay. My own friends and family (and my wife's who are from New York) are all safe. I am deeply sorry for all the victims and their loved ones, who are not only in America but in Europe and all around the world. I am also strangely reassured that there is a community and a pocket of discussion here that is sane, mature and humane. I hope there are many more like us who are willing to look at this from all sides, despite the shock and anger we all feel from watching and sharing it on TV--a medium that has lately become very expert at immersing its viewers in the grim realities of life and conflict. The Internet, meanwhile, has given like-minded individuals a way to communicate back to each other, to the Press and to our governments. Over the coming days and weeks, I hope that our voices can be heard so that we can remind our leaders (and our enemies both) that they are accountable not just to the voters, commentators and economists, but to the human race as a whole and its future on the planet. What a ghastly situation. The fear we are all feeling is the same one described by the elderly and in the books, art and movies from the late 1930's in Europe. Let's hope the days to come are not as dark. At a time like this, music seems even more important somehow, in its ability to cut through the fear and uncertainty and connect with a more fundamental feeling that's in all of us: "Switch off the mind and let the heart decide." I hope that's what's in our hearts is love for our children and our fellow human beings. Let's not give in the natural reflex to lash out blindly. This will only punish the innocent and bring more sorrow and suffering. That said, let's hunt these bastards down and make sure they're never able to hurt us again. I am sending you all my love and my thoughts. They're in the gallery on my webcomic. http://ghastly.keenspace.com/gallery.html I just adore the Gashlycrumb Tinies. It's so wonderfully macabre. I had always thought that Edward Gorey was just his pen name given how strange and twisted his writing and artwork is but it's actually the name he was born with. I wonder if he would have grown up so bizarre had his last name been Happy. I think if I ever start another webcomic (perhaps just a mini-series) I'd like to try one in the style of Edward Gorey. Thanks for this reassurance about Alloy. I've heard from a few people privately that they're afraid things may not be going well because of the political discussion (and one beloved member who has unfortunately unsubbed, because it's understandably been too much to bear at this time - though this person has promised to resub after a while) I have heard others' reassurances that we are in fact an oasis of calm compared to some of the other lists and newsgroups on the internet. I agree; we are very loyal and dedicated to our nations, but must also keep providing observations and feedback to our elected officials. This is everyone's world. We have to be watchful, respectful, and honest with ourselves and each other. Apart from a couple of brief tensions I think the people on Alloy are achieving this beautifully. > > What a ghastly situation. This is certainly true. Music gives me a sense of companionship & encouragement, which we all need right now. Much of the music made in the late 70s and early 80s, when cold war tensions were at their height, is particularly relevant at this moment.. as are the 1960s protest and folk songs. > I hope that's what's in our hearts is love for our > children and our fellow > human beings. That said, > let's hunt these bastards down and make sure they're > never able to hurt us > again. Not only have they hurt people everywhere in the world... but they're hurting their own families, and members of the religion they've been presumed to represent (if it is Osama Bin Laden, as they believe) The people who have written about Islam being peaceful are right. It's the zealots who take certain things out of context and use them to justify their own personal cruelty, just like in other religions, who are misrepresenting the millions of others who don't deserve to be seen that way. One tragedy that's occured to us again and again since Bin Laden has come into the international spotlight, is that with all of the money he's spending organising terrorist attacks, he could instead be helping the people of Afghanistan, and encouraging international support through humanitarian efforts and education. Instead he's setting up these families as targets for the world's wrath, perpetuating acts of horrific terrorism, while he hides in cowardice. We must certainly stop him and every agent who supports him. Thank you so very much, Thomas, for taking the time to send such a beautiful and well-phrased post.
