John Denver introduced the 4 and Thomas sort of took the lead from there with each artist having a short solo. I had really hoped that TMDR would win a Grammy that night for his one (and I believe only) nomination for best video short. I only have one working VCR at the time but I would be happy to make copies of this for anyone who'd like as soon as I can get another unit to record from. Or if anyone has a color copy let me know! For some strange reason I was watching "Dick Clark's Bloppers and Practical Jokes", and in this episode they were at Stevie's recording studio, watching Herbie and Stevie play. At that point I believe someone who was supposed to be an equipment manufacturer told them all there tracks got erased. Thomas made a brief appearence looking concerned. Of course it all turned out ok, and everyone had a big laugh. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-alloy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-alloy@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Russell Milliner Sent: Saturday, August 18, 2001 4:11 PM To: alloy@smoe.org Subject: Re: Alloy: TMDR in the grammys, 1980's I had a video tape recording of this. Note the word HAD. In an accident that I kick my self for to this day, it was accidentally recorded over. I have also been looking for a tape of this event ever since. The sad thing is to know that the networks have recordings of this sitting in some storage place collecting dust and probably deteriorating away into oblivion. - -Russ Robb & Tara wrote: > > Howdy. > > It's been a looooong time since I posted, sorry. I sure do remember that. Very silly stuff. Every once in a while I'd see that episode on cable and chuckle. What do you eat before you go to sleep? Do you think it has any influence on your dreams? I wish Thomas had been in my dream last night... maybe he could have helped me figure out this one character who showed up (actually, who I found in a tree).... a weird little demon fellow who wouldn't stop following me around a fairground, and saying lewd things to every woman he saw. It was very embarrassing. I had to keep apologising to everyone... "I'm sorry, but well... he's a demon..." ~shrug~ !!! I didn't want to anger him but I really wanted him to go away. He was even drinking 'Sunlight' dish soap straight out of the bottle as he walked along with me. I think he was trying to shock me but I didn't want him to think he'd gotten the better of me. I simply nodded encouragingly at him when I saw it and said "mmmmm... yummy!" I usually have to be pretty tired to have a dream like this. Speaking of TMDR in dreams... I saw yet another reference to that Tarot card he drew, in a film I saw just last night (The Red Violin) This particular Tarot card was in the reading given to the violin-maker's wife.
