Not to worry, Melissa.. the piece is so funny and well-done, I'm sure that particular word wouldn't have stood out in her mind! xxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Aug 2001 00:22:42 -0400 From: "Robin Thurlow" Subject: Alloy: The Others (OT) and WWII era Jersey UK We've just come from seeing this film, and I won't give anything away, except that I think it was brilliantly done! and I *highly* recommend it. I hope Andy J wont mind if I ask about the history of the island of Jersey during WWII. Andy, do you know about this period of history, particularly in reference to a tuberculosis epidemic? (this isn't a spoiler, it's just mentioned in the plot!) The story of the film takes place just after WWII, and is set in Jersey. Meanwhile, I have to see The Others again because: a) I want to! and b) the theater tonight had its fair share of people who wouldn't stop muttering, giggling, saying things back to the screen etc. And other people who were annoyed by them were starting little arguments from time to time, etc. So there were times in the film that I definitely couldn't concentrate, and I really want to have another chance. I will say that the ending is extremely well done. The film is getting scarier to me the more I think about it afterward. xxxxx Robin T (soon to move into the rather haunted old Rescue Mission building in our city!) ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V6 #211 ***************************
