I've posted a request to: rec.games.video.classic (that was an accident it was actually supposed to go to...) rec.music.makers.synth alt.music.4track alt.music.synthpop and on the off chance that these pictures have already been floating around a fetish community without us knowing about it a couple of alt. newsgroups that um... well... specialize in photographs of men dressed like women. (Hey you never know) I also sent an e-mail to KROQ asking if they could check to see if any of their staff perhaps attended this show and if so, brought a camera. I was hoping to post to an 80's music newsgroup but alas, my news server doesn't seem to carry one. In anycase here's a copy of my request incase you're curious as to what exactly I asked. - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I'm on a mission to track down some very special photographs of Thomas Dolby in performance for the Flat Earth Society (official Dolby Fanclub) Webpage http://www.thomasdolby.com ). Now I know what you're saying, "There are plenty of concert footage photos of Thomas to be found on the web" but these photos are unlike any other photo ever taken of Thomas before. You see... these are photos of Thomas performing in drag. The year was, I believe, 1987 and Thomas was playing his first gig with his new backing band "The Lost Toy People" in an LA club called "Club Lingerie". Because it was to be the group's first performance (they hadn't even recorded "Aliens Ate My Buick" yet) Thomas insisted with the club's owner that they remain completely annonymous. Unfortunately local radio station KROQ somehow got and leaked the story that Thomas would be performing so when he arrived at the club that afternoon there was already a crowd of people lined up. A little cheesed at his cover being blown Thomas and his wife went to visit one of her friend's, a hollywood makeup artist who TRANSformed (so to say) Thomas Dolby into "Brenda O'Leary", bored, blond, Beverly-hill's housewife turned techno-rocker. He performed the show in drag infront of an audience of about 500 people who were somewhat bewildered and confused. Alas, Thomas himself has no photographic record of the evening but figures surely someone in attendance that night must have taken the opportunity to capture the event on film. So please, please, please, please... if you have photos of this performance or know someone who does please send me an e-mail so the world can behold the softer side of Thomas on his official webpage. Even if you don't have photos of the event but were in attendance at it feel free to e-mail me your stories of one of his most unusual performances. Thanks! - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Anyone else out there who can take the request to an 80s music newsgroup (I know there has got to be at least one such newsgroup). Now there's a charity you won't see too many celebrities play for on Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millioneir. Incidently. I have very quickly learned that posting that request to those "special" alt. newsgroups where one might hope to find photos of men in dresses wasn't such a good idea. Already my e-mail box has been filled with things I would just as soon have not had in it. "I'm not Thomas Dolby, but will this picture do? Love and Kisses. Brunoella" YIIIIIIIIIIKES!!!!!!!!!!!
