I remember hearing the shipping forecast almost daily when I was a child. My parents used to listen to the radio a lot in those days so we'd hear the forecast several times a day. I also could NEVER understand was why they'd say something like, 'SHOWERS IN EAST. GOOD.' I always thought they should say 'Showers in east, sorry about that' or '...ooooh, nasty.'
