Its a word which spells the same forwards as backwards like for example the word 'level'. Level is Level whether you read it forwards or backwards. Of course there are other words which are palendromic too. Even phrases Ok you can tell this is going to get silly Lets Go 'Madam I'm Adam' spells 'Madam I'm Adam' in both directions but my favourite palindrome of all time has to be the excruciating 'A man a plan a canal Panama' ! or the Napolionic one which is about the island of Elba where Napolian was locked up after his European Tour of violence. The rumour has it that this was scratched on his prison cell wall but I reckon its rubbish !! Still it it does have an old fashioned 'ere - - meaning before which does date it to the right period. "Able was I 'ere I saw Elba" Can anyone beat that huh ? Returning to all things Thomas as we do occaisionally Can anyone give me a straight answer to the question of what exactly Thomas was meaning when he said may the Cube be with you ? Maybe it started life in a U.K. post office? You know - may the queue be with you [always] etc.. Come on Slarv and Crackers help us out on this one . Tim p.s. Just heard 24 cannon explosions up above me here in the city centre [ our new offices are in the valley bottom in the city centre]. This means either some royalty are visiting Lux. or the revolution has started. "Boom heres a cannon for the next 20 years" - Lyric from TMDR's the Beauty of a dream single. wow Tim a neat finish ! I'll stop on that then. Bye Tim. - -- Tim Hudson tim_hudson@zdnetonebox.com - email ___________________________________________________________________ To get your own FREE ZDNet Onebox - FREE voicemail, email, and fax, all in one place - sign up today at http://www.zdnetonebox.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jul 2001 08:30:06 -0400 (EDT) From: Barbara Cohen Subject: Alloy: best wishes! What's the French for this, and is it still a palindrome? Jon, I never knew this was ever produced on CD. I have a rather sandy copy of the Airwaves demo, it encapsulates everything that is genuine about the song. I love it raw.
