You guys have had a tough year with the job rollercoaster. Crappy dot.com bust! With your incredible skills and education, though, I'm *certain* that, when you want to go back to work, you will have some damn fine opportunities waiting for you. I'll be thinking of you, Mark, Milena, and Baby X. Hope the weather out there isn't too horrible for you. I'm trying to imagine being Ponderous With Child and dealing with the insane heat and humidity we have here right now. No fun, surely! Well, I have to call Siberia now - I'm interviewing internship candidates from Novosibirsk for a technology commercialization program. I called several at work late last night - we're 11 hours off. I still have three to do this a.m. (I have to remind them that I'm not a technical expert, and that I don't understand them when they start talking about polymer science and such - but I wouldn't understand it in English, either!) Cheers - hang in there, Beth!!!! - - Melissa ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 09:09:19 -0700 From: Jon Drukman Subject: Re: Alloy: happy birthdays At 11:55 PM 6/26/2001 -0400, Robin Thurlow wrote: >My internet connection is being a little crazy this evening so I'm sending >this a tiny bit early (in anticipation of the stroke of midnight) while I >still can... > >Happy Birthday Andy J!! > >~and~ > >Happy Birthday to CJ Mark!! > >I hope you both have a wonderful time celebrating :) that's some crazy coincidence. 6/27 is also my birthday. - -jsd- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 23:39:42 +0100 From: Slarvibarglhee Subject: Re: Alloy: OT: the economy 3, Meyer household 1 Beth Meyer wrote: > Hi, folks; > > Well, it looks like between this Friday and whenever the new baby comes > (which could be any day now), I'll have more time for participating in > Alloy discussions. It actually sounds like you're making the best of a poor situation, and as you say, at least you got a decent severence package. It's still a bit of a shock when your job is 'eliminated.' If I may add a little GOOD news of my own, I have finally been promoted from IT System Administrator to IT and Telecommunications Technical Manager. It's the ideal job for me. I get to do all the fun things I like, for more money, but with no staff, so I don't have to write any more annual reports or do any more staff appraisals, and I don't have to handle the routine helpdesk calls, only tricky ones the other helpdesk staff can't handle. And I have a new phone system to play with. I'll get me anorak. Slarv PS Hope all goes well for you with the new baby, Beth, and that your husband's new job turns out to be as good as you expect it to be. PPS Happy birthday (while it's just still the 27th) to Andy J, CJ Mark and Jon. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 11:07:30 -0700 From: Kathleen Presser Subject: Alloy: RE: alloy-digest V6 #164 Happy Birtday from me too to C.J. Mark and Andy. I do this now so I won't forget. Hope you men have good birthdays. Tomorrow my oldest son turns 13 years old thus making me a mother of a teenager. Oh Joy!! I had no idea! (unless of course you told me and I neglected to write it down, which is all too possible) Happy Birthday Jon, I hope you've been spoiled rotten today. And BTW I don't think I remembered to thank you for sending us the links to the MP3s of your show! Sounds as if it went down very well & I'd love to hear more... xxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 21:34:59 -0400 From: Merujo Subject: Alloy: Beach Music Top Ten List Okay, Alloy'ed... You need a break - no vacation in two years - you're bound for a beach, a coral reef, and just lots of sun time, shrimp, and solitude. You're bringing your boombox and 10 CDs to keep you company for the week. That's me in just over a week. Key West, here I come! I'm not sure what tuneage I'm packing up to take, and I'm curious what you'd do in my place. Which CDs do you bring? Which Dolby recording is most "beach friendly"? Thomas, oh Fearless Leader, if you're reading this, I'd love to know what your beach cd list would be. I have to admit that I will be bringing a Jimmy Buffet CD along - I think it Must Be Done. ;-) Cheers, y'all, Melissa ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V6 #165 ***************************
