Hi y'all, Forgive me for yet another irrelevant post that states the obvious, but tonight after a $%#!@!! of a day at work following many, many other &!^%###!! days at work (yes, I'm looking around for alternatives), and, okay, Monsignor Jack Daniel paid a brief & sharp visit (!) I found myself firing up the Golden Age of Wireless again. Rediscovery time: I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that this album is just /beautiful/, timeless, and brilliant. I found that as an incidental result of my CD replacement spree of a while back as the result of an insurance claim following a breakin where my 150 or so CDs sadly walked, my TGAOW CD is a different version to the one I originally had. Airwaves is different, more like the Live Wireless version which is excellent. I'm embarrassed that it took me this long to realise this. I'm listening now for other differences, though I'm sure I'd find an answer in Lazlo's excellent discography... :-) That's it, sorry, all I have to say, suffice to say that it makes a nice end to a crap day to be able to look at/listen to a work of art with fresh eyes/ears. Try it sometime. I highly recommend it. It's like running into an old friend who's just got better with age. stay well, Paul. "...normally four to six, locally seven, decreasing three or four, locally five. Showers at first, good." This message powered by "Windpower" off The Golden Age of Wireless/Thomas Dolby at inconsiderately high volume delivered by a bulletproof urban assault Pioneer mini. The unit next door is vacant and for rent. Noise limits and consideration for fellow [wo]man need not apply at this time. :-) P.S. Poetic justice. A week ago I blew yet another speaker in the 'lude playing the Gentleman's works just a tad too loud. Or was it the SuperJesus' Sumo? Either would have deserved the volume. Moderation, Brother Paul, moderation... P.P.S. also powered in paranoid editorial review by "My Brain Is Like a Sieve" off Aliens Ate My Buick/Thomas Dolby. Paul, I know exactly what you mean about listening to Thomas' music, and sort of hearing it all over again for the first time. This happened to me at work last week when I put in a tape of Astronauts and Heretics - perhaps because it'd been a little while since I heard all of the songs in order, as my life is normally a series of 'mix tapes' :) But i was just bowled over by the arrangements, the beauty of the whole thing. After it was done it felt as if I'd just come back from vacation. My mix tapes of course feature tons of Thomas' work, and I'd love to hear other people's opinions about Mulu... how does it make you feel? what do you think of it? I just heard it on one of my tapes the other day and it struck me how scary I've always thought that song is (mind you, scary is good... scary stories, music etc are my version of rollercoaster rides) xxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: 1 May 2001 15:13:53 -0700 From: mde@stanfordalumni.org Subject: Alloy: monya's bio reeeal quick here, but: monya, 22, belmont, ca.
