Congratulations!! thanks robin, i was pretty stoked. had to rewind and freeze frame it a few times just to get over the shock. my wife was amused. >Hopefully there will be a collection of music from - and/or inspired by - >Invader Zim (I think this *must* happen) indeed. i think if it happened, this would be on it: http://spoo.pretension.com/zimremix.mp3 this is a remix of the theme that i did at the request of the zim production office, for use at their premiere party. apparently they all liked it. >Jon, do you have any more music coming up in future episodes? i just got a note yesterday from my buddy j (he's the "jean-paul bondy" listed in the credits along with me, and is the show's color director) that said that jhonen loved what we did and is looking through the next few eps to see where he can slot in more of our music. fingers crossed!! also thanks to this i am going to do a pitch for another show currently in development at nick (although it might end up on cartoon network). if the producer likes my demo, i could be the regular series composer. very excited, this is what i have been dreaming of doing for ages now... - -jsd- "Quickly GIR, ride the pig!!!" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Apr 2001 16:58:05 -0400 From: Beth Meyer Subject: Re: Blast from the past! Alloy: I like this biography thing . .. Hi, folks; Sorry I've been slow to respond to this request, as life has been pretty busy of late. But here's a quick biosketch (hope I can keep it short). I'm Beth Meyer, or some call me Dr. Beth in honor of my finally getting my Ph.D. in experimental psychology a couple of years ago. I'm 36, was born and raised in the Atlanta area, but now live near Boulder, Colorado. (Also not far from Denver or Fort Collins.) I have a wonderful husband named Mark, a music-loving 2-year-old daughter named Milena, and a son on the way (he's due in July, and boy is he strong already). I also use a lot of parentheses when I write :-) I became a Dolby fan the usual way, by hearing TGAOW around 1983. There's really nothing very distinctive about me as a fan, but I have had the privilege of seeing Thomas perform live, when he came to Atlanta for the AAMB tour. Awesome show!! I have noted on several occasions that there seem to be more female scientists on the Alloy list than you would expect based on their frequency in the general population, so I'm one of a group in that regard too. Nearest famous neighbors...definitely NOT the parents of JonBenet Ramsay, since they moved from Boulder to Atlanta at around the time we moved from Atlanta to the Boulder area. (And even if I do say so myself, I think Boulder came out the better in THAT trade...at least Mark and I aren't constantly giving obnoxious press conferences.) Probably the most famous current Boulderites are the several local bands that have been pretty widely successful, such as the String Cheese Incident and Leftover Salmon. This would probably explain some of my suggestions for band names over the years. My musical tastes other than TMDR are a bit eclectic. Of course, I'm a big fan of a lot of the "new wave" artists (particularly Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Psychedelic Furs, & Talking Heads) but also classical (favorites are Schubert, Holst and just about anyone Russian), African-American gospel, certain jazzy types (notably Donald Fagen and the Vince Guaraldi Trio) and musical humorists ("Weird Al" Yankovic and P.D.Q. Bach). I'm with Kathleen -- the main question that would occur to me to ask Thomas would be, "how's the family?" The other one would be, "So how's Beatnik doing, given the dot-com meltdown?" Obviously it's going OK, given the nice press releases we get every so often, but it would be interesting to hear more about the ups and downs lately. (My husband is an Internet developer who just experienced his third layoff since last September, so this is an area of interest to us!) I'd better leave it at that, since Milena's just getting up from her nap -- Cheers, Beth bethmeyer@mindspring.com ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V6 #107 ***************************
