The house we are moving into is the eyesore of the neighborhood, at least on the outside. My husband has plans to improve the house's appearance slowly. The neighborhood is nice and quite. Hopefully it will stay that way. Because of the US economy being the way it is and Greenspan cutting interest rates, now's the time to buy a house. On a different note, I sympathize with anyone who's electric company in California is not D.W.P. Most of central and Southern California has been hit with rolling blackouts and high electrical bills. This includes our favorite musician, hint, hint.. Of course being that he is a genius anyway and quite well off, I'm sure the energy crisis in California is just a minor set back. One more note, I was listening and watching Gate to the Mind's Eye the other day. I realized upon listening to almost the best song on the soundtrack (Valley of the Mind's Eye), that this is a song I would sing to my children especially my sons since they are not always with me. It's a way of saying wherever they a part of me is there with them (my sons). Kate;-) It's definately Dolby season, just don't tell Elmer Fudd... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Apr 2001 14:39:58 -0700 From: "Ian Gifford" Subject: Alloy: Core song teasers (OT) Hi As you may or may not know, I am the musical director/character "Bob Nozzle"/composer for the musical called core to be held in London on June20th through the 30th. So i wanted to offer you a sneak preview of the songs. I have posted 2 of them to http://www.geocities.com/folkie4/core_songs.html and would love if you would check them out and get back to me with your thoughts. The songs that are there are not typical of all of the songs in the play, but are just a couple that I like and wanted to share. I would ask that you keep these to yourself and do not share them around the net. The song "recidivism" is to be sung by the character "Jeremy Brewer" who is a paranoid schizo type... and the song "I was a Child..." will be sung by the character "Penny Dreadful" who is a baglady singing to a young panhandler named "Bundle". These Mp3's are mono at 64kbps and are very dry sketch mixes made merely as reference tapes for the cast and as pre-production for the Cast recordings. All instruments and looping etc. were performed and arranged by myself, with the lyrics by Jason Rip (Author of "Core") Enjoy and let me know what you think, Ian ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Apr 2001 20:22:12 -0400 From: "Robin" Subject: Alloy: Question for TMDR There's something I've been wondering (especially while organizing my magazine collection)... if you had the chance to personally ask Thomas one question, what would it be? For me, it would be hard to choose. But one thing I've always been curious about (especially because Aliens Ate My Buick seemed to be so full of observations of American culture, from traditional to bizarre!) is: when did Thomas visit America for the very first time? What sort of expectations did he have of it at the time, and were they confirmed, was he disappointed, or was his view completely altered in a way he didn't expect? That's a few questions, ooops, sort of an essay thing... but maybe it *could* cound as one. There are a lot of things I wonder of course, but I especially like hearing people's impressions of places they visit for the first time so I would have to pick that one. What would yours be? What is that one burning question that you would really like to know about Thomas and his work, that perhaps hasn't been covered in any of the interviews you've read/heard? Meanwhile, while you're pondering this, here's a little treat I've found by accident... a magazine I never knew existed which features Thomas on the cover circa April 1988. http://www.robinthurlow.addr.com/TMDRmt88.htm I'll get the article published - along with more photos! - on my thankfully-still-existing-site as soon as I can. xxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2001 00:12:36 -0400 From: "Robin" Subject: Re: Alloy: Question for TMDR I've just thought of another one... I've been looking through tarot card symbols, and thinking of the subconscious etc. Some of us have had strange dreams about Thomas. I would love to ask if Thomas has ever had strange dreams about Alloy! I think I had better stick with my first question though... I might not want to know the answer to this one :) xxxx Robin ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V6 #99 **************************
