Crackers, You are a freak! And I mean that with the utter most respect! I downloaded your 99 bottles of beer in honour of the Rogers@home commercials that we are being bombarded with now, on the only TV station I get on my little commodore 1702 monitor hooked to a Sears VCR. It took me over an hour to download it (28,800 modem) and I played it when I got up in the morning... I did some cleaning, made some coffee and it was still going when I took my first swallow of coffee. The banter in between verses was well worth it! I was just thinking "Ok... who's a bigger loser? him for recording it or me for listening to it" when you say "ok who's the biggest loser...." (or something like that) So, I am going to write to our members and parliament and ask that you be given the prize of "The order of Canada" for this, and maybe see if we can make your version of this our NAtional Anthem. I wonder if maybe TMDR would want to do a duet with you on a reprise of it? THen again you did say that you will never record it again and I will never play it again but I will keep it on my hard drive as a souvenir of the moment. So thanks Crackers. THat was fun and I hope that other alloyites will check this stuff out... I am going to go search for some of the other things you have out there before Napster goes KABLOOIE. I have to admit... both Napster and Mp3.com have been great for hearing people that I have never heard or could have possibly heard before without these services. It will be a sad day when it all goes down at the hands of those greedy Major label types. Did you know that London is sinking faster than Venice? (OT) I'm very excited because Dave and I have just reserved a little flat in central Edinburgh for a week in June. It's self-catering so we can eat in most of the time (are there Sainsbury's in Scotland? :) Now Dave just has to confirm that he'll have the time off and then we can get cheapo tickets over. Lastly I'll have to get sleeping pills from the doctor so I can be gloriously unconscious for the enitre flight each way. There are some cool ones I took before which they had used in the space program which i might be able to get again. Yay!! Very much looking forward to seeing pretty Edinburgh again :) xxxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Feb 2001 18:06:35 -0500 (EST) From: CRACKERS Subject: Re: Alloy: 99 Bottles of Beer from hell On Sun, 25 Feb 2001, Ian Gifford wrote: > You are a freak! It took me over an hour to Neat stuff! I have about a half dozen 1702 monitors around the home. Everytime I see one for $10 in the thrift stores I buy it. Every television in the house is a 1702 monitor hooked up to either a VCR or a converter box with AV outs. The picture on them is just amazing. Too bad they're only 14" because that's the only thing wrong with them (well the sound isn't that great because of the tiny speaker, but I run the audio to a stereo anyways. > The banter in between verses was well worth it! I was just thinking "Ok... > who's a bigger loser? him for recording it or me for listening to it" when > you say "ok who's the biggest loser...." (or something like that) Heheheh. And did you also record that backwards episode of Red Dwarf and then play it backwards to hear what they were saying? I actually did that but only after a friend told me about the hidden message in it. > So, I am going to write to our members and parliament and ask that you be > given the prize of "The order of Canada" for this, and maybe see if we can > make your version of this our NAtional Anthem. All the kids will love that. By the time they get finished singing it at school it will be time to go home. But at least they'll all know how to count backwards from 99. Believe it or not I lied about never doing it again. I'm actually doing a "techno-mix" of 99 bottles of beer. Thomas if you'd like to get in on this version just say so. ^_^ Oh, and the "all your base are belong to us" trick worked. Somebody FINALLY downloaded a shih'tzu song. Yay! I feel validated. It's actually shorter than the accoustic 99 bottles of beer on the wall because it's at 150bpm. I also noticed today that there's a huge proliferation of incomplete copies of the accoustic version of 99 bottles. I guess people got tired of downloading and canceled or something. (And I hate it when people don't tag their files as incomplete) Well the new version is called... "Crackers - 99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall (techno dance mix)" Enjoy.
